Ways to practice body and mind regulationātree stand edition! šŖ¾šš
Mindfulness and grounding are common therapeutic techniques that can be used to root yourself if youāve been feeling anxious, stressed, or dissociative (having trouble staying connected to reality and the present moment).
While in the tree stand today, I connected with my senses and felt gratitude for this time to be alone in nature.
I grounded myself by hearing the sounds of the leaves falling in the wind, noticing different bird calls and identifying them, and looking for any animal movements or sounds that I could find! I noticed a slight chill in the air, smelled the aromas of trees and autumn leaves, noticed the variety of fall colors, and felt the stability of my tree stand underneath me.
Your 5 senses are always there for you as a quick and easy way to redirect anxious thoughts and reconnect to what is happening in the present.
Gratitude, simply noticing beautiful things and grasping onto a sense of thankfulness for people, places, circumstances, or things big and small, gives our brains a dopamine boost and helps us remember there are always good things, even amidst the hard things.
Iām so thankful for this grounding time in the woods today, and for each of you.
Do you have a place or activity that helps you connect with a sense of inner peace and gratefulness? If so, Iād love to hear about it in the comments! ā¤ļø
