The holidays don’t feel joyful for everyone.
For a lot of people, they bring stress, grief, loneliness, or pressure to hold it together.

If this season feels heavy, you’re not broken. You’re human.
And you don’t have to carry it alone.

We’re here. Always.

We want to say thank you to Brodhead Elementary School for such a thoughtful act of kindness. The students took the time to make 200 Christmas cards for our clients here at Lake Cumberland Recovery.

These cards will bring smiles, laughs, and a lot of quiet moments where people just sat and read the words written to them. For some of our clients, it may have been the first piece of holiday cheer they have received in a long time.

It means a lot to know that kids took the time to think about people they may never meet, and chose kindness anyway. That kind of effort does not go unnoticed here.

We appreciate the students, staff, and everyone who helped make this happen. Your kindness reached farther than you know.

We are incredibly proud of Jessica Johnson Renner, who was recently invited to appear on the Chevy Chase Morning Talk Show on FOX 56 to share her story and the journey that led to her being nominated for Remarkable Woman of the Year 2025.

Jessica spoke openly about her path, the work she is passionate about, and the importance of hope, recovery, and showing up for others. We appreciate her using that platform to highlight the work happening here and the impact it has on individuals, families, and the community.

Opportunities like this to talk openly about recovery helps reduce stigma and reminds people that change is possible. We are thankful for her voice, her leadership, and the way she represents our mission in all aspects of her life. She is living proof that we do recover!

Over the past two days, our team had the opportunity to spend time at Rockcastle, Bullitt and Jackson County Detention Center during the holiday season.

We went in to share a meal, some laughter, and a moment of normalcy with people who often feel forgotten this time of year. No agenda. Just showing up, having real conversations, and reminding people that their lives still matter and their stories are not over.

Walking into spaces like this is a reminder of how much dignity, humanity, and potential still exist behind those walls. The staff were welcoming, the interactions were genuine, and the impact went both ways. These moments stay with you.

Recovery, hope, and change do not stop at locked doors. We are grateful to be part of work that reaches people where they are and treats them with respect and compassion.

Thank you to everyone who helped make these visits possible.

This morning Asher was in Fayette County and surrounding areas delivering coats to kids who needed them, alongside Devine Carama and Believing Forever.

Cold weather does not wait, and families feel it immediately. Making sure children stay warm is a simple thing, but it matters. Showing up with what people actually need matters.

This is the kind of work our outreach team does quietly and consistently. Meeting needs as they come up, working alongside community partners, and making sure help reaches people when it counts.

Grateful to work alongside others who care about the same things we do, and proud of our team for stepping up and taking care of our community.

This week’s graduates showed up on the days that did not feel good, stayed when it would have been easier to leave, and did the work even when motivation came and went. That matters.

What you are leaving with is more than a certificate. It is structure. Awareness. Hard earned momentum. Things you built one day at a time, not overnight.

As you step into what comes next, remember that progress does not require perfection. It requires honesty, consistency, and the willingness to keep asking for support when you need it.

We are proud of the work you put in here and we wish you strength and clarity in the days ahead.

We were honored to spend time with the kids at the Rockcastle DCBS Christmas event and be part of something that brought a little joy to their day.

This season is about showing up for our community, especially for children who deserve to feel seen, supported, and cared for. Being able to help in any way, whether through time, presence, or encouragement, means a lot to us.

Thank you to Rockcastle DCBS for allowing us to be part of such a special day. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back. When we support one another, everyone benefits.

Bub Bailey is someone we are proud to have at Lake Cumberland Sober Living.

Bub is someone who shows up every day with consistency and purpose. He works hard, takes responsibility seriously, and follows through on what is asked of him. Over time, we have watched him grow personally and professionally, earning trust through his actions and his commitment to recovery.

He takes his recovery seriously and it shows in the way he lives and. He stayed on track, handled his responsibilities, and earned back things many people never think they will get again. Seeing that kind of progress reminds everyone here what is possible when you stick with it.

Bub is the kind of person who steps in without being asked and helps because it is the right thing to do. We are thankful for the example he sets and the role he plays around here.

Thank you, Bub, for the work you do and for being a positive part of this community.

Some days are long.
Some roads feel colder than they should.

That’s why we leave the light on.

Not because everything is easy here, or because answers come fast, but because no one should feel like they have to find their way alone. When someone comes in tired, unsure, or worn down, we want the first thing they notice to be warmth. A signal that says, you made it this far, and you are welcome.

Recovery does not begin with certainty. It begins with a door that is open and a place that is ready when you are.

If today feels heavy, or if you have been telling yourself you will deal with it later, know this. There is a light on for you. Whenever you are ready.
