Self-Care Sunday — for the people doing this work every day.

The substance use and behavioral health field has faced significant barriers over the past few years — limited placement options, increasing acuity, staffing shortages, and growing system pressures. All of this adds additional strain to professionals in a field where burnout was already trending.

If you work in this space, you’re likely carrying more than what’s visible on the surface.

A reminder that self-care in this field doesn’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes it looks like:

• stepping away from your phone after hours
• taking a real lunch break
• setting boundaries where you can
• debriefing with a colleague
• using PTO without guilt
• moving your body or getting outside
• asking for support when you need it

The work matters.
But so do the people doing the work.

Taking care of yourself isn’t stepping away from the mission — it’s what allows you to stay in it for the long run. There are people who need you, and that includes you needing yourself too.

Grateful for everyone showing up in this field each day.

The first call into detox is often the hardest one to make.

At Abria Detox, that call is often answered by Zak, our Detox Admissions Coordinator.

Zak is not only passionate about helping people overcome addiction , he is a valued and respected asset to our team.

As someone in recovery himself, he understands how vulnerable that first step can feel. He brings a true example of compassionate, empathetic communication and genuine care to every conversation.

At Abria Detox, we deeply value what Zak brings to our organization.

His ability to help individuals feel safe, confident, and supported as they take the courageous step into detox is not just part of his job , it reflects who he is.

Fun fact: Zak speaks English, Somali, and Dutch, allowing him to connect meaningfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Recovery starts with a conversation.

If you are supporting someone who may need detox services, our admissions team can be reached at 952-806-8105.

Winter can be a relapse trigger. Let’s talk about it.

This time of year hits differently.
Less daylight. More isolation. Routines fall apart.
And for many people in recovery, seasonal depression can quietly increase relapse risk.

We’re already seeing it:
Clients who were stable start withdrawing.
Motivation drops. Meetings get missed.
Cravings creep back in.
Mood shifts from “managing” to “barely hanging on.”

This isn’t about willpower.
It’s about mental health + environment + support systems.

Warning signs to watch for:
• Pulling away from support
• Sleeping too much or not at all
• Increased urges or “just one won’t hurt” thinking
• Missing appointments or groups
• Feeling hopeless, numb, or stuck

If you’re a provider, family member, or friend — early intervention matters. Don’t wait for a crisis or full relapse.

What helps:
✔ Structured programming
✔ Community + accountability
✔ Mental health and substance use support together
✔ A safe place to stabilize before things escalate

We are currently accepting referrals.
Fast access. Supportive team. Real coordination of care.

Kindness doesn’t have to be big to matter — especially in recovery.

Today is a reminder that small moments can change the direction of someone’s day… or even their life.

💛 Check in on someone who’s been quiet
💛 Offer encouragement instead of advice
💛 Thank a staff member or peer
💛 Be gentle with yourself — healing is hard work

Recovery grows in environments where people feel seen, supported, and safe.

If you’re walking this path, know that every step forward — no matter how small — counts. And if you’re supporting someone, your kindness matters more than you know.

Let’s keep building a community where compassion leads the way.

🏥 ER vs. 3.7 Medically Managed Detox: What’s the Difference?

Emergency Room: Stabilizes life-threatening emergencies — overdoses, seizures, acute medical crises. Short-term care; limited support for withdrawal or ongoing medical/mental health management.

3.7 Medically Managed Detox at Abria: Provides structured, multi-day withdrawal management with 24/7 nursing and physician oversight.

💊 Medical Support: Can monitor and stabilize common conditions like mild high blood pressure, dehydration, or blood sugar fluctuations, and manage medications as needed.
🧠 Mental Health Support: Can monitor anxiety, depression, or withdrawal-related agitation, with psychiatric evaluation and support as appropriate.

Bottom line: ERs save lives in emergencies. 3.7 detox safely manages withdrawal and supports stabilization of common medical and mental health concerns, helping set the stage for recovery.

If you’re worried that not having insurance—or having limited coverage—means you can’t get help, you’re not alone.

Many people delay detox because they assume cost will be a barrier. We want you to know: being uninsured or underinsured does not automatically mean you’re out of options.

What This Really Means ?
Being uninsured means you don’t currently have coverage. Being underinsured means your plan may not cover everything you need. In both cases, there may still be paths forward. Every situation is different, and assumptions often keep people from reaching out when help may be available.

How Abria Detox Can Help ?
At Abria Detox, our Admissions Team takes the time to:
Review your situation confidentially
Explain potential options in clear, simple terms
Discuss payment and coverage alternatives when insurance is limited or unavailable

Help determine the most realistic and supportive path to admission:
Our role is to provide clarity and support—not pressure.

Don’t Disqualify Yourself !
We regularly speak with individuals who believed they had no options, only to find that help was more accessible than they expected. A brief conversation can offer answers, relief, and direction.

If you or a loved one are considering detox and unsure where to start financially, we encourage you to reach out. There’s no obligation—just information and compassionate guidance.

Contact our Admissions Team today to explore your options.
You deserve safe, professional care—regardless of your insurance status.
