Dr. Mafe Mijares is bringing psychiatry to Burnsville. And her friend & colleague, Dr. Kelly Rothe, is hosting Dr. Mijare’s new practice at Mountain Medical Arts.
Dr. Mijares is currently completing her psychiatric residency over the next year in Miami. She plans eventually to relocate to Burnsville. She’s launching her Burnsville practice as soon as next week: Wednesday 25th through Friday 27th, 9am to 4pm at Mountain Medical Arts. She’s proposing meeting with prospective patients then in person, offering virtual follow up, but also travelling to Burnsville every two months through residency to continue tending patient relationships in person. She’s accepting patients with less complicated profiles and private pay capability: $140 for a 1-hour appointment and $100 for 30-minute medication management.
Contact Dr. Mijares through her husband’s business, CO Health, to book your appointment: 786-521-2992.
Here’s more about Dr. Mijares in her own words:
“I believe that mental health is an essential part of overall wellbeing. As a psychiatrist, my goal is not only to treat symptoms, but to understand the whole person, their story, their environment, and the challenges they face in their daily lives.
My approach to care is rooted in the belief that medicine is a service to others. I am deeply committed to helping people feel heard, supported, and empowered in their journey toward better mental health. I see psychiatry as a partnership, where we work together to find thoughtful and effective ways to improve emotional wellbeing, resilience, and quality of life.
Practicing in the mountains of North Carolina is especially meaningful to me because many people who choose to live here share a deep appreciation for nature, balance, and a slower pace of life. I value that connection to the natural world and recognize how environment, lifestyle, and community can play an important role in mental health.
In my work, I strive to integrate compassionate care, modern psychiatric treatment, and a holistic understanding of health, recognizing that mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing are deeply interconnected.”
