National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative

National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative NTI is funded by the Children’s Bureau The impact of these experiences and challenges compromises well-being and family stability.

The National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative (NTI) has developed free, state-of-the-art, web-based adoption competency mental health training for child welfare and mental health professionals. Many children and youth who are adopted, in guardianship, or in foster care experience elevated risks for developmental, health, emotional, and behavioral challenges, often due to traumatic life experiences and early losses. The free web-based aligned NTI trainings provide professionals across the nation with foundational knowledge, values, and skills for adoption-competent casework and clinical practice to:

1) Support children to heal from trauma and loss.
2) Provide parents with skills to parent more effectively.
3) Collaborate effectively with child welfare and mental health professionals.
4) Improve outcomes for permanency, child well-being, and family well-being and stability! NTI is funded by the Children's Bureau and led by the Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.).
