Hello Ski-Dawgs! Wow, what a weekend we had! It’s time to showcase another volunteer! Did y’all know we had a waterski celebrity in our midst? Recently, he moved back South and has been volunteering his time with us back here where he skied when Lazy J campground was open. Lazy J Campground is the property next door and was owned by David’s grandparents. Barefoot tournaments were held right here where Ski-Dawgs ski today!
William Farrell is a pioneer in barefoot waterskiing. He first began barefooting in 1973 and helped organize the Barefoot Nationals in 1978. Also in 1978, he was named to the first U.S. Barefoot Water Ski Team and served as Team Captain in 1986 leading them to their first world championship in Germany. For 35 years, he either skied in or qualified for every World Barefoot Water Ski Team. Continuing to barefoot in 1999, he led the team to the first world championship for the U.S. Senior Barefoot Team. He continued to bring home title after title in Senior Men and Senior World Championships. William was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.
We’d like to thank him for volunteering and welcome him back home!
