April’s Full Moon (4/1/2026) is called the Pink Moon, not due to its color, but because of the perennial plant, phlox, that blooms lavender pinkish. Phlox usually flowers in early April, around the time of the full moon. The Pink Moon is a cosmic invitation to renew, release, and realign your ener...

In Hindu mythology, Virabhadra was created from a lock of god Shiva’s hair, in a fit of rage following the death of his wife.

Virabhadra undergoes a series of powerful transformations- represented by the many ‘warrior’ poses in yoga- aimed at ultimately avenging the death of Shiva’s wife.

These strong postures symbolize Virabhadra’s courageous energy and the important role that strength, courage and focus play in overcoming challenges whether they be in life or on the yoga mat.

“Warriors” are named after a fiery hero for a reason; they demand physical strength while maintaining mental equanimity.

These poses enhance lower body hardiness, improve balance and increase mental/emotional/physical stamina.

Most importantly, warrior postures invite you to confront and overcome internal obstacles, reaffirming that strength is as much an internal battle as it is physical.

Energetically, the Virabhadra series primarily activates the ‘Muladhara’ or root chakra. Muladhara governs our sense of safety, strength and stability.

“Dancing Warrior Flow”, which we will explore in vinyasa classes this month, also stimulate the ‘Svadhisthana’ or sacral chakra. Svadhisthana governs our sense of adaptability while offering deep hip openers (encouraging practitioners to further let go of internal struggles).

Inspired by the great champion, Virabhadra, this month’s asanas encourage determination, focus and a sense of stability.

Taking the series as vinyasa, and then holding the warrior positions for length of time, requires both physical and mental stamina, each reminding us to stay calm and centered during challenging times.

And with practice, we can take this increased resilience and focus out into our daily lives.

Namaste~

Moving to a new place brings expected and unexpected changes. Sure, you need to figure out where the post office is, when and how recycling is picked up and who are the best physicians in town. All of these, predicted. What was a bit of a surprise was a 'gale warning' on the phone. A what?!? It soun...

Shanti. Shanti. Shanti.

Peace. Peace. Peace.

Peace in your Body. Peace in your Heart. Peace in your Mind.

My motto is Peace. Allow me to be your guide as you sojourn towards peace- peace in body, mind and spirit. I enjoy the anatomical and physiological explanations and benefits behind the asana/postures, as they are the most easily assessable qualities as you begin your journey. Breath work will be the current on which you ride to awareness and in time, you will begin to appreciate the inner workings of self; the thoughts, emotions, and stirrings that make you, YOU. I aspire to bridge the gap between body and mind; designing flows to support the individual's journey towards wellness and peace. I feel it is my vocation to serve as an inspired guide; kindly inviting exploration and curiosity into what makes each person the individual we were born to be and to find peace in that wisdom~
