The Yamas are the first limb of what is known as the “Eight Limbs of Yoga”. “The Eight Limbs” are, simply put, a framework to a more meaningful and mindful existence. The ‘Yamas’ are the ethical principles or moral guidelines of the 8 limbs. There are five ‘yamas’ but this month we w...

(Downward) Dog Days of Summer When I hear the cicadas (or what I called as a kid, “August Bugs”), I know that Autumn is weeks, not months away. The shadows seem a bit longer in the afternoon, and the light is beginning to shift from bright yellow to a more mellow, golden hue. The summer heat has...

All July JPY classes will explore themes of stability, focus and grounding. And what better complement to the summer heat than to apply “Garudasana” to each practice? “Garudasana” is generally translated to ‘eagle’. However, it’s a mythical bird that in Hinduism and Buddhism is said to...

“Slow down and everything you are chasing will come around and catch you” ~ John DePaola (Jazz musician & trumpeter) ~ A young man decided to take a walk through a park. Simply ambling along the path, enjoying the birdsong, appreciating the various plant life, and drawing slow, deep breaths. It ...

Shanti. Shanti. Shanti.

Peace. Peace. Peace.

Peace in your Body. Peace in your Heart. Peace in your Mind.

My motto is Peace. Allow me to be your guide as you sojourn towards peace- peace in body, mind and spirit. I enjoy the anatomical and physiological explanations and benefits behind the asana/postures, as they are the most easily assessable qualities as you begin your journey. Breath work will be the current on which you ride to awareness and in time, you will begin to appreciate the inner workings of self; the thoughts, emotions, and stirrings that make you, YOU. I aspire to bridge the gap between body and mind; designing flows to support the individual's journey towards wellness and peace. I feel it is my vocation to serve as an inspired guide; kindly inviting exploration and curiosity into what makes each person the individual we were born to be and to find peace in that wisdom~
