Funeral services for Kathleen Ann Shobe of Kansas City, Kansas, formerly of Butler, Missouri will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler. Visitation prior to services 1 - 2 p.m. Saturday at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. In lieu of flowers, contributions to family. Online condolences www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Kathleen Ann Shobe entered the world on August 5, 1961. She was the daughter of the late Margaret Shobe and Wesley Hawkins. Kathleen affectionately known as “Katt” was a lifelong resident of Butler, Missouri. Katt graduated from Butler High School.

For many years Katt worked at Ward Paper Box as a production worker before transitioning to her true calling as a health care worker. Katt worked in a variety of different areas and locations including long/short term units, memory units, rehabilitation units and home health. Katt remained in the healthcare field until her health began to fade.

Katt spent her later years living in Kansas City. While in Kansas City, even though her health was failing, she maintained control over the household and everyone in it. She loved spending time with her great-grandkids, the best GG they could have ever asked for. The older Katt got the more she shared the characteristics of her mother, Mag began to emerge. There was a look or a warning you would get before a shoe, lamp, remote–whatever was closest–would go flying through the air.

Katt truly enjoyed life. As long as she had Amazon, the TV show Life Below Zero, Food Network TV and some Canadian Mist she was all right! Cooking and car rides were her thing, but it wouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary for her to get a game of Spades or Tonk going. She’d turn on some BB King, Motown, or Etta James and the party was on.

Katt was full of advice and encouragement, but don’t ask her what she thinks if you don't want to know the real answer. She had been through obstacles in her life that, to some, are unimaginable, but to her she sucked it up and moved on. Those hardships made her stronger and wiser–shaping her into the woman she was.

Kathleen departed this life Tuesday, September 16, 2025. She is preceded in death by both parents, Wesley Hawkins and Margaret Shobe; and son, Bradley Westley Lee Shobe.

She is survived by her daughters, Margaritta Ratliff and Jackqueline Mitchell; brother, Willard Shobe; grandchildren, Anthony Ratliff, Antoine Mitchell, Kurious Mitchell, Dollar Mitchell, Adyson Ratliff and Nathanial Shobe; three great-grandchildren and two unborn great-grandchildren with a due date in December 2025; and an endless list of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her family and countless friends. She will be remembered for her love of the color purple and butterflies.

"There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart." - Mahatma Gandhi
