Edward “Ed” Eugene Ortstadt, age 86 of Adrian, Missouri died Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Baptist Homes in Adrian. He was born February 19, 1939 to Arthur Leon Ortstadt Sr. and Ruth Ann Bruner Ortstadt in Kansas City, Kansas.

Edward is survived by his wife, Patti Ortstadt of Adrian, Missouri; four daughters, Jacque Underwood and husband Mike of Adrian, Missouri, Cyndee Byous of Eureka, Missouri, Debra Smith and husband Chuck of Presque Isle, Michigan and Susan McMillan and husband David of Adrian, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Joseph Robert “Bob” Schowengerdt, age 81 of Independence, Missouri died Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born April 29, 1944 to A.B. and Dorothy Inez Cox Schowengerdt in Ft. Scott, Kansas.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sherry Schowengerdt of Independence, Missouri; two daughters, Michelle Pehriz and husband Cagatay of Oak Grove, Missouri and Nicole Schowengerdt of Independence, Missouri; two brothers, Gary Schowengerdt and wife Trevalyn of Butler, Missouri and Dr. Ronald D. Schowengerdt, DDS and wife Linda of Nevada, Missouri; stepbrother, Claude Burch and wife Carol of Parkville, Missouri; stepsister, Diana Crawford and husband Bill of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, ASLI Pehriz and fiancé Andrew Wilkins, Burak Pehriz and Devon Highley; one great-grandson, Carsen Wilkins; several nephews and nieces; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, AB and Dorothy Schowengerdt; stepmother, Aleta Burch Schowengerdt; and a nephew, Bryan Scot Schowengerdt.

John David “Dave” Miller, age 72 of Butler, Missouri died Sunday, June 1, 2025 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born November 14, 1952 to Paul Vernon and Alva Marie Simmons Miller in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Dave is survived by four daughters, Renee Sargent and husband Lance of Butler, Missouri, Mandi Miller of Harrisonville, Missouri, Jessica Kirk and husband Cory of Butler, Missouri and Andrea Miller of Amoret, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Breann Thompson and husband Jacob, Baustin Sargent and fiancé Cheyene, Brooklyn Sargent, Ciara Miller, Taylor Kirk, Bella Kirk, Carter Kirk and Alexander Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Juliann Thompson, Jett Thompson and Ellie Sargent. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Miller, Dickie Miller and infant brother, Dennis Miller; two sisters, Paula Jackson and Linda Long; and one nephew, Jeff Jackson.

Billy is survived by his wife, Sue Ward of Warsaw, Missouri; three sons, Gregory Ward and wife Tara of Butler, Missouri, Jeffery Ward and wife Robin of Amoret, Missouri and Michael Ward and fiancé Tammy Hendren of Nevada, Missouri; one daughter, Stephanie Teagarden and husband Matt of Topeka, Kansas; three sisters, Barbara Ward, Karen Brown and Sandy Curnutte; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Ward.

Tom is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Glee Bennett of Butler, Missouri; three sons, Jason Wade Bennett and wife Diana of Butler, Missouri, Darwin Ward Bennett and wife Pamela of Iola, Kansas and Derrek Todd Bennett and wife LaRenia of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Reena Melinda Hicks and husband Anthony of Butler, Missouri and Amber Cassandra Christiansen and husband Raylun of Archie, Missouri; two brothers, Buddy Bennett of Grain Valley, Missouri and David Bennett and wife Tana of Texas; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
