The Garrett Fifield Memorial Mutt Strutt brought community members together for its 8th annual event on October 11, 2025. Each year the Mutt Strutt honors the life of Garrett and gives back to local programs that were important to him and his family.

Proceeds from this year’s event were donated to the After School Alternatives Program located at Family Services of Butler Memorial Hospital and Butler County Humane Society. The Butler Memorial Hospital Foundation is grateful to the Garrett Fifield Memorial Mutt Strutt for their generosity and support of this important program.

Jill Shipley from the Mario Lemieux Foundation presents new toys for Austin's Playroom located at Butler Memorial Hospital to Kris Bowser, Manager of the BMH Foundation. Austin's Playroom was created during the addition of the new patient tower in 2010 and provides a space where children and their family can decompress from what can be a stressful situation.

We are so grateful for our ongoing partnership with the Mario Lemieux Foundation and truly appreciate receiving these new toys for the children and families who utilize Austin's Playroom while they are waiting at the hospital.

The BMH Foundation annually awards two $2,500 scholarships to Independence Health System employees who work in Butler or Clarion who are furthering their career in the healthcare industry, specifically in the Nursing field. The scholarship is funded through the Carol and Richard Dietrich Educational Fund, managed by the BMH Foundation.

This year's winners are Donna Tucker and Nathaniel Weber.

Donna works as a medical assistant with the BMP Clarion Residency program. She will be attending PennWest University, Clarion to study nursing.

Nathaniel works at Butler Memorial Hospital in the Emergency Department as an Emergency Care Tech. He will be attending AHN's Citizen's School of Nursing. He also aspires to become a nurse.

Winners were chosen by a committee. There were 18 applicants this year.

On Monday, June 16th, nearly 140 golfers enjoyed a day out at the Butler Country Club to support the Butler Memorial Hospital Foundation. Golfers enjoyed playing the beautiful course, entering the prize raffle, receiving special gifts, and enjoying a delicious lunch and dinner. Funds raised from this event support programs and services at Butler Memorial Hospital who provides health for all in our communities.
