Be on the look out for a man driving around impersonating a West Penn Power employee. I tried to get a license plate number but he backed out of my driveway and tried to keep me from seeing any identifying information. When I asked him for his badge he quickly flashed something and put it away. This was in the center township area.

Do audiologists and hearing aid dispensers have the same amount of training?

No! An audiologist is trained to diagnose, treat and monitor disorders of the hearing and balance system. They are trained in anatomy and physiology, amplification devices, electrophysiology, acoustics, psychophysics, and auditory rehabilitation. The college years focus on the medical, diagnostic and rehabilitative aspects of hearing loss, hearing aids, and the vestibular system. Audiologists must also pass a national standardized examination in order to be eligible for state licensure. A hearing aid dispenser is registered to perform hearing testing for the sole purpose of selling and fitting hearing aids. Hearing aid dispensers are just required to pass a state exam. IN many states, hearing aid dispensers are only required to have a high school diploma.
