My favorite Yoga tool is breath work. Practicing Ujjayi pranayama literally saved my life 16 years ago. I was walking my dog one night after dinner and went into an anaphylactic attack. This never happened to me before and I wasn’t even sure what was going on. I kept walking thinking it was allergies as my throat was closing up more and more and breathing became quite challenging. Deciding I should go home, I changed path and reminded myself that this was something I was familiar with. I imagined I was just practicing the breath work that asks you to purposefully constrict your throat in order to slow it down. It helped me to remain calm instead of panicking (at least until I could get to the hospital for multiple shots of epinephrine). If Yoga breathing could help me to be calm during this horrifying experience, it can certainly help you to reduce any anxiety or stress you may have surrounding your holidays! Come move and breathe with me during Flow- our vinyasa practice- tomorrow at 8:30am and Wednesday at 5:30pm. We’ll be focusing heart opening and grounding 🧘🏻‍♀️ ☮️ 🙏🏼

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Student Appreciation/Open House today! We had a BLAST meeting new friends, showing off our Pilates equipment, and celebrating all of you who make what we do possible! Big thanks to our vendors too .hiles.31 And CONGRATS to our drawing winners- Laura J who won the door prize and Eileen R who won the drawing for a free 10 class pack! More pics to come soon from our ribbon cutting with the (chamber of commerce)! Oh- and this just in- our new shirts are shipping the beginning of the week! What a great freakin’ day huh!?!?!?! The big day is almost here! Open House is Saturday 9:30-1:00! Even though our regular classes are cancelled for the day, you can partake in all the special treats we have in store for you on this student appreciation day! Enjoy some cookies from a new bakery in town- Baked By the B's Sip some sparkling cider and toast us during our ribbon cutting at 10am with the Butler County Chamber of Commerce! All guests can get entered into a raffle to win a relaxation/spa themed basket put together by our instructor and for current students who bring a friend who’s never been to Shakti- you get entered into a drawing to win either a 4 pack of reformer classes or a 10 pack of Yoga/Mat/Strength classes! 2 days until our student appreciation day! .hiles.31 (licensed massage therapist and bodywork practitioner) will be offering 15 minute mini massages to those lucky students who snagged their spots early! She’s currently all booked up! 😳 But…you can take a chance on the waitlist in case someone doesn’t show on time. She offers a variety of services at her space in downtown Butler. Come see her and get some info for your next self- care session! We’re also offering free 30 minute introductory sessions on the Pilates Reformer! This year we’re doing something a little different for turkey day. Pre-heat your oven and your core with this FREE Thanksgiving day mat Pilates class! We’ll be serving up the main dish as well as the sides (side lying legs that is) and of course dessert- you know you love to stretch the muscles you worked! How sweet it is!
