You are never too old!

Just ask Navy Veteran James Keefer! At 93-years young, Mr. Keefer just completed guitar lessons and earned a new guitar and all the accessories. "The fingers don't work like they used to, but when I set my mind to something, I finish it. I wanted to try to learn to play the guitar and I am glad I did" shared Mr. Keefer.

He would like to thank his volunteer instructor James Shepherd (also a Veteran) for being so patient with him during lessons and his granddaughter, Holly, who works in the Dental Department at the Butler VA, for telling him about the opportunity to take lessons.

Take it from Mr. Keefer, you are never too old!

Music can be used as an alternative technique to healing. The Butler VA has two Veteran Community Partners focused on music that Veterans can utilize. Music serves as a therapeutic tool for Veterans. It can help Veterans cope with PTSD, depression, anxiety, mental and physical health challenges and so much more.

One of our partners, Warrior Music Foundation, a nonprofit organization, has locations in the Butler VA area and online options.
