I am a one woman show.
In order to get on my table you MUST make an appointment.

I do not take walk-ins and it is highly unlikely that I’ll ever have space for a same day appointment. (Especially if you are a new client)

I only move people up in the schedule if you are already on the schedule. So if you call and want in that day.. but won’t commit to making an appointment for a day I have available. Then you won’t be moved to an earlier spot if one becomes available.

I don’t have a cancellation list and I won’t cold call you if something becomes available if you aren’t already on the schedule.

I do my best to work with everybody’s schedule so I ask that you be patient when it comes to mine. ☺️💙

💛 Lymphatic drainage massage 💛

I wanna start out by saying that my studies into lymphatic drainage are far from over. There are many different techniques when it comes to lymphatic drainage. They all share basically the same goal but the application itself can be quite different.
This course was very different from what I learned in school and also different from what I learned in oncology massage.

The technique I studied in this course was the Vodder technique.

The lymphatic system is an extension of the circulatory system. It plays an important role in fluid balancing, waste removal, and immune function.
Unlike the circulatory system aka your heart, arteries, veins, and capillaries.
Your lymphatic system does not have a pump like the heart. It relies a lot on breathing, muscle contractions, and gravity for optimal movement.

Lymphatic drainage massage is so gentle and so relaxing. It can help with swelling, boosting your immune system, reducing stress, and compliments oncology massage beautifully.

If you are interested in lymphatic drainage massage then please know that it’s probably unlike any massage you’ve ever had before. It’s an extremely light touch and very repetitive. But also extremely effective for so many ailments you might have!

Please reach out to me with any questions you might have and also stay tuned for more fun new announcements! 🤗💙

❤️‍🩹 Oncology massage ❤️‍🩹

This continuing education course was far more valuable than I ever expected. My greatest inspirations have always come from the amazing people I get to meet.

Oncology massage is extremely gentle and tailored to your specific cancer treatment plan. There are A LOT of things to consider when it comes to massage and cancer.

It is extremely important as a massage therapist to know exactly what those considerations are in order to not interfere with your treatment plan, medications, and for your safety. It’s also very important for you as the client to be as honest as possible with your massage therapist.

The goal of oncology massage is to improve your quality of life, reduce pain and anxiety, and provide emotional support in this challenging time.

Blu Agate Wellness is now better equipped to be apart of your cancer treatment plan and work with your medical team in unison. Whether it be during, after, or even end of life care. I’m here to offer my support and would be honored to be apart of the team. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Let’s just get one thing straight here…

As a small business owner and a massage therapist I get so many questions. Which I absolutely love answering btw! (Ask away!)
There is one specific question that I get asked all of the time and I dislike the question but I love to answer it. Simply because it’s a perspective twist that I think we all need.

The question is: “So how busy are you?”

This question ruffles my feathers only because we live in a world where hustle, over performance, and competition are rewarded. We wear “burnt out business owner” badges like killing our mental, physical, and emotional health over our job…is something to be proud of.

I heavily disagree.

My response to this question is:
I don’t work to be busy.

“Busy” doesn’t equal success if the busyness means you are neglecting your own needs. Feeling frazzled all the time. Not sleeping well. Or not enjoying this beautiful life you’ve been given.

We should really be judging success on how good we feel each day we come to work.. How happy we are to be there... And how much we enjoy the service we are providing.

It’s not about how busy you are, the google reviews, the 5 stars, the money, or the popularity.

It’s about the amount of joy we feel from doing what we do.. the inspiration we get from our clients.. the confidence we receive when we are able to navigate the things that challenge us.. and that warm feeling in our hearts when we know that we made a positive impact on someone’s life.

This is how I choose to view success. 🩵

It’s you.. not me.

You may think that when you leave your massage appointment feeling so good… that it was 100% because of me. Because of the treatment that I performed.. because of the stretching.. because of the heat.. etc.

Wrong.

Your body is an intelligent self healing machine. YOU are the one who heals you.

Not me. I am simply the middle man. The one that nudges your body back to this truth.

With all my advanced education.. it all leads back to this. You are never “broken”.. the symptoms you are experiencing are just messages from the body that something is out of alignment.

I don’t have “magic hands” and I am no healer. I am committed to helping you remember that you hold all the power.

Your body knows everything about you. Your habits.. your thoughts.. your activity level. But most importantly it knows how to heal itself and restore balance.

Often we forget this and that’s where I come in! I’m just a little piece of the journey back to truth. And I honor that roll.

YOU are the he healer.

This post is for all my fellow massage therapists.

Whether you are just getting started or you have been in the industry for many years.
I want you to know that you do more for people than you know.

Sometimes we need to hear that.. not because we need outside validation but because we need to be reminded that we are far more valuable than we realize.

Touch is not only essential to us as humans but it’s also a natural form of magic that penetrates far beyond just the surface of the skin.

We don’t just touch skin. We shift energy. We move fluids. We change the chemistry of the body. In a chronically stressed out world.. we invite the muscles to relax. We offer safety. We allow the body to speak and often we provide ears to listen.

We lovingly choose to show up for others in our offices, at home, and everywhere else we go. We choose to be a safe space for humanity. That’s huge!

Massage therapy isn’t a “job”.. it’s a calling. I’m glad you answered. Because you do more for people than you know. 💗

Blu Agate Wellness is now in a position to accept insurance. 💫

HOWEVER, I will only choose to work with your insurance on a case by case basis.
In case you didn’t know, insurance billing is a lengthy process and unfortunately most health insurance companies don’t cover massage therapy. If they do, it’s by prescription only and you will need a referral from your provider.

Car insurance from an accident is a little different and in some cases you won’t need a prescription.

Nevertheless, I am totally willing to work with you and your insurance company if it is in alignment for both of us. But please know that there is an extra fee for the extra time it takes to do the billing and you are RESPONSIBLE for any unpaid fees that weren’t covered by your insurance.

If I do choose to work with you and your insurance company and you no call no show.. you will be fired immediately and responsible for those charges as well.

Please understand that I have to be pretty strict about this in order to protect my business. But for the right person, this could be a game changer!

It is my belief that all insurance companies should cover massage therapy. It is literally the oldest form of healthcare. But we aren’t there yet as a society.. so until then, I’ll do my best to work with you. 💙

Please let me know if you have any questions about this and as always.. I’m thankful for all of you. 💙☺️💙

Why I think you should include stomach massage in every full body massage session.

Your stomach is a pretty large part of the body. Most people are unaware of just how amazing your abdominal area really is. Let’s break it down a bit!

We could go pretty basic and say that you have 5 paired muscles in your abdomen.
Internal & external obliques, transverse abdominals, re**us abdominis, and pyramidalis.
We can go even deeper and include psoas major and quadratus lumborum.
We can go even further and include subcutaneous tissue, transverasil fascia, and parietal paritoneum. Plus all of your abdominal organs.

There’s a lot in there! The only thing stabilizing your mid-section. From below the rib cage to the top of the pelvis are these muscles. (And of course the bottom part of the thoracic spine)

All those muscles need love too! Even if we aren’t doing visceral manipulation.. I still encourage people to be open about abdominal massage. Not only does it feel amazing but you also wouldn’t believe the amount of tension you can hold in the abdomen. Plus it can help with digestion!

If you haven’t had my warm oil belly massage.. you need to try it! 😌

All stomachs should get stomach massages. 😌🫶🏼👐🫶🏼😌

This post is specifically about women in their menstrual years. I’ll get into peri- and menopause in a separate post.

I’ll be honest, I’m almost shocked at the amount of women who do not know what phase of their cycle they are in. Because it is so beneficial for you to know! Not only for your massage appointment but for your life in general.

We have become so disconnected from our bodies that it breaks my heart.

Ladies, you do not run on the concepts of clock time. You are a highly spiritual being that has a natural ebb and flow. You run on your own time.

Menstruation is so magical and powerful. The more we know about our magic.. the more we can understand it and use it to our advantage.

You have four seasons.
Ovulation (Summer)
Luteal (Autumn)
Menstruation (Winter)
Follicular (Spring)

This post would be incredibly long if I went into as much detail as I’d like. (LOL)
So I’ll keep it short.

Here are the types of massages I recommend for every season you are in.

Ovulation- Any type! Your energy will be high and you will feel expressive and connected. (This is when your hormone levels peak)

Luteal- Therapeutic. You will still have some energy but could start to feel irritable, tender, and become sensitive to temperatures. (You still have high hormone levels but they are starting to lower)

Menstruation- Relaxation. Your body needs extra rest, more calories, and you need time for self reflection. (Your hormone levels are at their lowest)

Follicular- NeroMuscular, deep tissue, visceral manipulation. You are starting to feel more energized and playful. (Your hormones begin to rise once again)

There is so much more to say than this but I’ll leave it at this for now. Ladies we are such divine beings. It’s time we get back to the natural flow of our incredible womanhood. Let your life sync with your time and your seasons. Not the other way around. 🩸🌊💫
