Butte EMT course started putting some of the lectures to hands on! This is the time that students start to build confidence, and putting the concepts together.

The students enjoy putting the equipment to use, and starting to figure out what the emergency is. The power points and lectures start to come to life.

This weekend our team is scattered across the state with one team doing first aid for a motor cross and another team doing first aid for a taekwondo tournament! And they all come together Friday night as we have our Butte Irish Hockey stand by!

With our largest class to date in Butte, the hands on practice takes a little longer but its worth it. We would rather get behind a little than cut out any of the hands on practice / scenerios.

Lifting and moving is something EMS students have taken for granted for years. It sounds easy and looks easy until you have to do it. Lifting is where alot of EMS have ended their career with a back injury. So we want to make sure our students understand the equipment, lifting techniques and can safely move a patient while protecting themselves as well.

They struggle the first couple times figuring out how to put someone on the equipment, then where each person should grab a hold, then they realize that didnt work so they shuffle people around. Its much easier to do that in class and learn the concepts, then on a real call. John's favorite saying is " there are no time outs or do overs on a real call". So making the mistakes now and getting the concept down is important.

Although they have smiles and had fun, they also learned very valuable lessons so their future patients will be safe!

Butte EMT class covered A and P thanks to paramedic Ryan Berger , and then Emmitt Tucker covered legal, and communications/ documentation.
We then had an excersises using the radios and working on good communications and radio etiquette.
