We’re feeling all the feels after caregivers from Intermountain Health St. James Hospital and Mortenson Construction came together to touch the lives of over 100 local children during the United Way of Butte and Anaconda "Dress A Child" event. 😊 💓

The caregivers helped over area youth select school supplies and clothing, creating moments of genuine warmth and encouragement.

Teamwork in action! 🤝 Last week, the St. James Sports Medicine crew joined forces with Butte School District #1 and A-1 Ambulance to practice responding to real-life sports injury situations. Together, we ran through different scenarios to make sure our student-athletes get fast, expert care when it matters most.

⚠️ Please note: The “Do Not Consume” order remains in effect until all testing is complete and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) officially lifts the order. For now, these are precautionary recommendations and will stay in place until more information is available.

⚠️ We want to inform you that, due to unforeseen conditions impacting water South of Front Street, the Intermountain Health Butte Flats Clinic will be closed today August 14th. As a result, our primary care and general walk-in clinic will not be available for patient care during this time.

St. James Hospital and clinics in the RMAP building remain open and fully operational. If you are experiencing any serious medical conditions, do not hesitate to seek care.

Residents are encouraged to call 406-497-6440 guidance on the use of water. These are precautionary recommendations only and will remain in place until more information is available

Grateful for our amazing caregivers and their families! Last week’s ‘Feast of St. James’ was all about celebrating our caregivers who give so much. Sunshine, delicious food (hello, burgers & ice cream!🍔🍦), and good company made for a perfect day. We laughed, played games, and enjoyed some friendly competition—who knew you could fit so many taffies in one jar!

More than just fun, this day reminded us how important it is for caregivers to take a break, recharge, and connect with one another.

Shout out to the St. James Nutritional Services Team for all the extra work they put in for this event and to Extra Sprinkles Ice Cream truck for dishing out frozen treats!

We are open to care for you! Starting Sunday, August 3rd, our Butte Flats Walk-in clinic will be open on Sundays from 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Conditions treated include seasonal allergies, animal or insect bites, cuts and scrapes, earaches and sinus pain.

Clinic hours are 7 days, 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

When Teal Joy, RN and Surgical Services Manager at St. James Hospital, envisioned the new Pain Clinic Lobby, she imagined more than just a comfortable waiting area—she dreamed of a space where stories could live and breathe.

That vision came to life recently when a visitor paused in front of a photo of the Immaculate Conception Church. Teal asked about their interest, and the story they shared left her in tears.

They had grown up across the street from the church. Their father worked in the Anselmo Mine, only leaving when their mother—who walked with a wooden cane—would signal him by knocking on the floor above. On the day their mother passed, she asked her children to knock one last time. He heard it, came home, and held her as she peacefully passed.

This deeply personal moment, sparked by a single photo, is one of many stories shared in our newly designed lobby—where local history, memories, and art come together.

With photography by Time Travel Art: Lisa Wareham Photography blending historic and modern-day Butte, patients now enter a space that’s both physically and emotionally comforting. As Joy puts it, “Our patients have an atmosphere to breathe, remember, and escape in their minds for a few moments.”

The St. James Pain Clinic is backed by a team that cares for more than just symptoms. They care for the soul.

Butte-Silver Bow Health Department's Family Health Fair was a fantastic success! Our St. James Caregivers were on hand, spreading awareness about summer safety. From information on water and helmet safety to UV cameras to help people understand how effective sunscreen can be in blocking UV rays.

Plus, we had our Mobile Mammography Bus on hand, because early breast cancer screening can save lives.

Our Story

Level III Trauma Center and Joint Commission Accredited Acute Care Facility. St. James Healthcare has played an important role in the history of Butte. Founded in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, St. James has been known for generations for its mission of compassionate care and service to the poor. For 130 years, St. James has provided care for the sick and served the poor. Today, that commitment is accompanied by St. James' reputation as a technological leader in Montana's healthcare industry. A Catholic hospital, St. James Healthcare is one of Montana's largest comprehensive hospitals, serving the healthcare needs of people in a seven-county region. It remains today a part of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, which includes 11 hospitals in Kansas, California, Colorado and Montana. The other two Montana hospitals are St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings and Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City.
