Small Footprints Summer Support Group: Now Offered In-Person 💜

Hope Floats Healing and Wellness Center will be offering an in-person, summer support group, Small Footprints, at our agency this August.

This support group service is specifically open to any parent who has experienced the loss of a pregnancy, infant, or toddler. This group will be hosted in-person (3 sessions) on Tuesdays, August 5th, 12th, and 19th, from 6:30-8pm.

The Southcoast Health Baby Café offers free drop-in weekly events where breastfeeding mothers can relax, connect, and share the journey of motherhood.

Meetings are offered at two convenient locations in Fall River and Dartmouth.

Bring your little one, grab a cozy seat, and enjoy building a community with support from our lactation experts. No appointments are necessary, and all are welcome to come and go as they please!

Mount Auburn Hospital is honored to have been invited to present at PNQIN, Massachusetts' perinatal quality organization, about our approach to achieving one of the lowest C-section rates in the state. What is our strategy? We prioritize respecting patient autonomy, practicing patience, supporting doulas, offering water birth options, and promoting mobility during labor. Our exceptional team comprises OBs, nurses, pediatricians, and midwives, with midwives delivering over half of the babies and playing an integral role in leadership and culture of patient care on our unit.

Are you or a loved one looking for breastfeeding support? Our breastfeeding clinics at Falmouth Hospital and Cape Cod Hospital provide expert guidance for new parents.

Since expanding our breastfeeding support services to Falmouth Hospital in 2023, we’ve been able to better support the needs of our Upper Cape community by providing additional local access to expert lactation care. Led by an experienced International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and registered nurse, these sessions offer hands-on help, weight checks, and answers to your breastfeeding questions.

Happy International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Day to our terrific team!

We have nine IBCLCs on our team at South Shore Hospital, three of whom are pictured here.

Our IBCLCs perform a number of important tasks, including:

• Providing lactation support to patients and members of the clinical team seven days per week
• Staffing our Warm Line, which patients can call with breastfeeding issues or questions and receive a call back the same day or next day, if after hours. On average, the Warm Line receives up to 40 calls per month.
• Managing our pasteurized donor human milk program, working closely with Mothers' Milk Bank Northeast to ensure that our nurseries are adequately stocked and helping with milk donations from members of the community
• Running our Breastfeeding Support Group for postpartum patients, with classes held three times per week

We're grateful to all of our IBCLCs for the compassion and support they provide to our patients and colleagues.
