PBM Reform? (Discussing the Senate Version). I like the original legislation HB1665, which was a negotiated compromise over three years.

I've had several calls last night and today questioning my vote on the PBM reform bill. Let me share some facts.

I encourage people to shop locally. My family shops at a local pharmacy (Saltillo). We shop at Baldwyn Hardware and Scruggs (Tupelo) before we go to the big box stores, we shop at Mitchell's Groceries (Guntown) and Todd's Grocery (Tupelo) before we shop at the big box grocery stores. I do not mind paying more to support local businesses and our local economy. I actually encourage it...

The PBM Bill is bad policy for the Mississippi taxpayer.

The proposed law protects the 389 pharmacies in the state, but it is projected to cost the taxpayers $34 million dollars MORE a year in medicaid to do so.

Also, individuals will pay $9 more per order when you purchase your next prescription. I can not pick industry favorites; I have to be for the taxpayer. If individuals want to spend more with local businesses, I fully support that. However, it is my duty to protect the taxpayers' money.

On a professional note.... no lobbyists pressured me to vote on this legislation EXCEPT the independent pharmacy lobbyist(s).

Also, do not believe everything you see on social media. Four of the 7 names listed are not even real names of Senators. The vote was actually very close. There are people in our community that like to spread misinformation in spite of the facts.

I want to thank the sophisticated voters and residents of the Mississippi 6th District for allowing me to serve our region.
