June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.
Let’s take time to check in on the men and young men in our lives.

💙 Remind them they are important.
💙 Remind them they are loved.
💙 Remind them that showing emotion is strength, not weakness.
💙 Remind them that they matter.
💙 Remind them it’s okay to have bad days without judgment.
💙 Remind them they have a safe space with you.

Mental health doesn’t discriminate — and everyone deserves support, compassion, and a listening ear. Let’s break the stigma and build each other up. 🧠✨

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

The theme for 2025 is: Engage, Educate, Empower: Uniting to End HIV/AIDS in Black Communities.

Southern Health Alliance would like to highlight NBHAAD and the progress of HIV testing, prevention, treatment efforts and consider our ongoing challenges to preventing HIV transmission among Black or African American people who are disproportionately impacted by the virus.

In our communities we will continue our efforts to bridge the gap by educating, testing and linking our people to care.

February 1st marks the 1st “official” day of Black History Month.

SHA celebrates Black History all year long!

Hats off to all that paved the way for people like us to continue to make a difference in our communities.

Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

HIV 101: There are quite a few common misconceptions of how HIV is transmitted.

HIV is transmitted through contact with certain body fluids from a person with HIV. These fluids include blood, semen, breast milk, and vaginal fluids. HIV can be transmitted through a**l or vaginal s*x, sharing needles, or during pregnancy and childbirth.

HIV doesn’t have a “type”. Anyone can contract the virus. HIV doesn’t discriminate!

Getting tested regularly and practicing safe s*x can help decrease your chances of contracting HIV.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. believed in fighting for the wellbeing of all mankind. He encouraged performing good deeds for his community—regardless of any possible reward. This MLK Day, look for places where you can give back.

We can all take some inspiration from Dr. King and become leaders in our own communities. SHA has a sworn duty to do just that. We take pride in our community and will continue to be a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who we encounter.

"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

An annual wellness check, also known as an Annual Wellness Visit (AWV), is a preventive care visit that helps you maintain and improve your health. It's a free benefit for Medicare beneficiaries and most insurance holders.

Take charge of your health by making an appointment with your primary care provider. If you are unsure about your health care provider, please let us help it make that connection!
