Lakeland Emergency Squad

Lakeland Emergency Squad "Making a difference though compassionate care and training" The Andover Building is located at the intersection of Goodale Road and Route 206.

Mailing Address: PO Box 311, Andover NJ 07821

The Lakeland Emergency Squad proudly serves Andover Borough and Byram Township. The Emergency Squad currently operates 4 NJ OEMS licensed ambulances as well as a Special Services Unit out of our two stations. The Byram Building is located on Route 206 just South of Cranberry Lake. Our first due coverage area is approximately 50 square miles of southern Sussex County, where over 15,000 people reside, about 10% of the County’s population. We provide mutual aid to the surrounding towns including Newton, Stanhope, Netcong, Hopatcong, Lafayette, Mount Olive, Green, Allamuchy, and Sparta. The Squad responds to a wide range of incidents including medical emergencies, fire calls, and motor vehicle accidents and also provides standby support to local youth sporting events, mountain biking competitions, and events at Waterloo Village. Residents of Andover Boro and Byram Township are always invited to volunteer with the Squad, and we have several membership options to choose from.

A few words of thanks as the snow keeps falling…. Byram Twp Fire Department is graciously letting 4359 spend a few days staying warm and cozy in their open bay as we’re dealing with a shattered rear window in the cap. Our friends at Newton Volunteer First Aid & Rescue Squad helped us out last night covering one of four Byram calls that came in within 80 minutes of one another as many of our members were enjoying our Installation Dinner. Speaking of Installation Dinner…thanks to our Dinner Committee for all your hard work in putting together an enjoyable evening!

Today was one of those days. Waking up this morning, we remembered the ten year anniversary of Past Chief Scott Danielson’s LODD funeral service and procession. The early afternoon brought the unfortunate news that Sussex County emergency services lost yet another legend too soon as Andover 911 Dispatcher Kim Brown passed away. Kim was an absolute stalwart of the radio waves for over 25 years in the County - one of the good ones as the saying goes. And then came the late afternoon as BLS4353 took in a mutual aid assignment into Warren County and twenty minutes later 43EMS, 43FD, MIC57, and BTPD were alerted for a head-on crash on US Route 206 near Cat Swamp. The other two ambulances out of HQ (BLS4355 and BLS4351) responded and BLS4352 also crewed up from the Lee Hill Sub-Station but was held in quarters as a cover assignment, not being needed on scene.

🚑 This Giving Tuesday, support Lakeland Emergency Squad!

Since 1939, our volunteers have been dedicated to providing the highest standard of pre-hospital medical care to our community — and thanks to your support, we continue to grow, improve, and expand what we’re able to offer.

Recently, Lakeland EMS implemented new expanded scope of practice protocols, allowing our EMTs to perform blood glucometry, administer nebulized albuterol for respiratory emergencies, and enhance care for patients experiencing conditions like stroke symptoms, syncope, altered levels of consciousness, asthma, and more. These advancements help us deliver the right care faster — long before patients reach the hospital.

Your donations directly support:
✨ Upgraded medical equipment
✨ Expanded clinical capabilities
✨ Training and certifications for our EMTs
✨ Maintaining our ambulances and lifesaving supplies
✨ Continuing our 85+ year mission of community service

As a 501(c)3 department, we rely on the generosity of our community to stay mission-ready, 24/7.

❤️ If Lakeland EMS has ever helped you or someone you love — or if you simply want to support the people who respond when it matters most — please consider donating this Giving Tuesday.
