💚 PANS/PANDAS Awareness Day – October 9th 💚

Today, I’m honoring and bringing awareness to something that has personally impacted my family — PANS/PANDAS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome / Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections).

For those unfamiliar, PANS/PANDAS occurs when the immune system misfires — often after an infection — and begins to attack the brain. What looks like sudden anxiety, OCD, rage, tics, or regression in a child can actually be neuroinflammation. These changes can appear almost overnight, leaving families confused, heartbroken, and searching for answers.

Having witnessed this journey firsthand within my own family, I know how isolating and overwhelming it can feel. The road to understanding, diagnosis, and healing isn’t always straightforward — but there is hope, and recovery is possible.

As a Nurse Practitioner, I’m committed to helping families navigate complex, root-cause health issues like this. From identifying underlying immune triggers to supporting inflammation, gut health, and nervous system regulation — there are ways to guide the body back toward balance.

Attended my first A4M longevity fest conference in Las Vegas; so many great vendors, biohacks, and discussions. I loved all the reminders about interconnections between mind, body, and spirit. Walking away with many great tips to implement in practice and treat the whole person. By the last day my brain was overloaded so I implemented some self care by scheduling a hiking tour of Red Rock Canyon; the fresh air and views did not disappoint.

Summer garden produced tons of zucchini; got to play around with various recipes! Versatile for every meal, including breakfast :) Zucchini basil soup was a first for me! What is your favorite zucchini recipe? 🌈

Kept my youngest home today for some 1:1 time. Enjoyed picnic in the park and the beauty of nature. Threw out some plastic trash we found along the way. Reconnecting with the earth can be so healing!

For many individuals, incorporating vegetables at breakfast is a challenge; taking some time to do bulk preparing, such as on the weekend, can help make putting together a quick hearty breakfast easier during the week.

Spring is “technically” here! (We won’t talk about the anticipated snow for tomorrow..)

Broccoli plants are sprouting; excited to transfer them outdoors once it warms up and work in the garden again. Last year it became too hot too fast, and they bolted! Hopeful to get them outside earlier as they are a cooler weather crop, and grow some nice bundles for our broccoli loving household!
