Grief doesn’t pause for the holidays—while the season can be beautiful, they can also be incredibly hard.

If you’re missing someone this season, remember to be gentle with yourself. Here are a few small ways to support your peace and your heart.

The holidays often bring a renewed desire to savor meaningful moments — sharing a favorite meal, decorating the tree, enjoying a tradition, or gathering loved ones for a family photo.

These moments may be simple… but they can mean everything. And with comfort and support, holiday wishes become meaningful memories.

This season, we honor the beautiful holiday moments our patients and families create — moments filled with connection, love, and the spirit of the season.

When the demands of caregiving and the needs of grieving collide with the busyness of the holiday season, it is easy to feel lost. Take moments throughout the day to reconnect through the simple yet powerful practice of grounding. Close your eyes, feel your feet on the floor beneath you, and allow yourself the gift of five slow, deep breaths. When you notice your body relax and that your mind and heart are fully back in the moment, open your eyes and resume your day.

While grounding won’t take away the pain or the responsibilities, it can help you reconnect with yourself, steady your emotions, and move through the day with more calm and clarity.

You deserve moments of peace, too.

On what was a beautifully quiet winter evening, we gathered for our Memorial Service of Remembrance—
a special time to honor the loved ones who continue to shine in our lives.
Though this season can feel heavy for those who are missing someone dear,
the soft glow of luminaries and Christmas lights reminded us that even in our darkest days,
light still finds its way in.

Thank you to every family, friend, and team member who joined us—
and a heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers who make this moment of reflection possible each year.

Larry and Carole spent 40 wonderful years together in Kentwood, raising four children and living each day with steady love. When Carole’s cancer returned in 2024, she and Larry turned to Faith Hospice. Our team supported them—often daily—with comfort and compassionate care.

After Carole passed on June 17, 2024, our Bereavement team walked with Larry through his grief. Today, he volunteers in her honor and has dedicated a memorial leaf and brick to keep her memory alive. 🦋

Your gift helps families like Larry and Carole’s—before, during, and after the journey.
