"Semi-retirement" has been amazing for the past two months! I have been continuing to serve some of my previous clients in their homes approximately 6-8 hours per week.

A 4 year-old boy at one of my client's homes opens the door for me each time I arrive. This is very helpful since I am usually carrying several rehab-related items. Today, he wanted me to have his Burger King crown.

THIS is why I love what I do! 😊👑❣️

Freedom Physical Therapy will be transitioning to “home-based” patient care beginning in June 2025!

After much thought and prayer, I feel that God is leading me to enter the phase of “semi-retirement”. I will still be accepting referrals on a case-by-case basis. Patients will receive the same quality of care, but in the convenience of their own homes! I will have a large variety of portable items including exercise equipment, balance devices, treatment table, etc. to meet your rehabilitation needs. With over 39 years in the profession, I am looking forward to entering this new phase of life. It has been a tremendous blessing to serve the Byron Center community, and to have made so many connections over the years. Here is a Case Study for you today: 🙂

This is a 63 year-old male who requested an orthopedic consultation due to chronic right knee pain and stiffness. Has history of medial meniscus (cartilage) tear from a softball injury 30+ years ago, resulting in arthroscopic menisectomy (cartilage removal). Patient has experienced a gradual decline in function, including limited tolerance to standing or walking. The knee is stiff and swollen daily. There has also been a gradual progression of genu varum (bow-leggedness) on the right. Radiographs (x-rays) performed today show significant advancement of joint narrowing in the medial compartment of the knee (see red arrows). Patient has opted to continue conservative treatment (exercise, stretching and use of knee brace) and consider injections if pain worsens. Necessity of future knee replacement was discussed.
