Did you know some books can do more than tell a story? 💬

For National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, Emily Moore, MA, CCC-SLP is sharing two books she recommends to help AAC users and their families feel seen, heard, and better understood.

AAC, short for augmentative and alternative communication, helps people communicate when speech is not the most effective option. This can look like typing, writing, or using buttons on a tablet to say words.

Emily’s picks:

📖 A Day With No Words by Tiffany Hammond

This one gives children who use AAC the chance to see someone communicate like they do, while also helping teach functional words like “read” and “turn” in therapy.

📖 The Reason I Jump by Naoki Higashida

Many parents share that this book helps them better understand their child’s experience.

Communication is not one-size-fits-all, and that is exactly why AAC matters.

It's official—Taylor Canitz, DPT has entered the chat! 🎓🥳

Taylor recently wrapped up her clinical experience at our Spanish Springs clinic and graduated with her DPT last week!

She shared that her time at Spanish Springs helped her grow both personally and professionally, sparked her interest in orthopedic PT, and showed her the kind of clinic environment she hopes to be part of in the future.

We’ll miss having Taylor around Spanish Springs, but we’re so proud of her and can’t wait to see what she does next.
