What is one thing that affects every organ in our body, our mind, our personality, and our health?
Chemical stress, physical stress and emotional stress.
Chemical stress-sugar, caffeine, sleeping pills, anxiety meds, steroid shots as an example.(although they may be needed)
Physical stress-manual labor, repetitive actions, poor posture, one sided activities( mail carriers, golf, bowling, hair stylist, mothers)
Emotional stress- family, job, relationships, health.
Anyone of these stressors are enough to change our blood pressure, muscle tension, headaches, digestion, causing fatigue, adrenal over load and heart conditions.
Chronic anxiety may begin with mental stressors and develop into physical symptoms over time.
Each of these types of stress can affect the ability to get quality sleep. Chronic lack of good sleep is a often over looked as a symptom of stress and a cause of stress.
We can not always remove the stressor, but we can choose how we deal with it.
Have a self awareness of yourself and how you are mentally, physically. Identify what the stressor is and make your best plan for dealing with it.
Having a direction and making your best plan for it may help prevent becoming overwhelmed by it.
Lastly, deal with one thing at a time.
These ideas are all easier said than done, however I believe that being aware of how stress affects us, helps it from becoming chronic.
Breath, relax your body and make a plan.
These ideas are based on my 24 years of listening to patients tell me what is going on in their lives
