If today feels off, try a reset โ€” not a restart.

You donโ€™t need a brand new plan.
You donโ€™t need to fix everything.

Just pause.
Take a breath.
Start again from where you are.

Thatโ€™s enough. ๐Ÿ’›

Power outages. Bad weather. Disrupted routines.

Letโ€™s be honest โ€” itโ€™s frustrating.
Itโ€™s inconvenient.
And sometimes itโ€™s just plain overwhelming.

Itโ€™s okay to feel that. ๐Ÿ’›

But in the middle of the chaos, there can also be small, unexpected moments:
โœจ Slowing down when everything else stops
โœจ Sitting together without distractions
โœจ Finding comfort in simple things โ€” blankets, candles, conversation

You donโ€™t have to force positivityโ€ฆ but sometimes, thereโ€™s a little peace tucked inside the pause. ๐ŸŒฟ

Take it one moment at a time.

Parenting isnโ€™t just physically exhausting โ€” itโ€™s mentally exhausting too.

The constant decisions.
The worrying.
The trying to do the right thing for your kids even when youโ€™re unsure.

If you feel overwhelmed sometimes, that doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re failing as a parent.
It usually means you care deeply.

Take a breath.
Give yourself some grace.

Youโ€™re doing better than you think. ๐ŸŒฑ

Letโ€™s do a quick check-in.

If you could choose one right now, which would help your mental health most today?

A. A long nap ๐Ÿ˜ด
B. A quiet walk ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ
C. Coffee with a friend โ˜•
D. A day with no responsibilities ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Dreary days can feel heavy โ€” and thatโ€™s okay.

When the sky is gray and the energy feels low, itโ€™s easy for your mood to follow. If today feels slower or harder than usual, try giving yourself a little extra care.

A few simple ways to support your mental health on days like this:
โ€ข Step outside for a few minutes of fresh air, even if the sun isnโ€™t out
โ€ข Move your body gently โ€” stretch, walk, or do something light
โ€ข Drink water and eat something nourishing
โ€ข Reach out to someone you trust, even just to say hello
โ€ข Do one small thing that brings you comfort (music, a warm drink, a good book)

You donโ€™t have to fix the whole day.

Sometimes caring for yourself in small ways is more than enough. ๐ŸŒฟ

Little feelings are still big feelings. ๐Ÿ’›

For kids, mental health can look like:
โ€ข Big meltdowns over small things
โ€ข Trouble sleeping
โ€ข Clinginess or withdrawal
โ€ข Saying โ€œI donโ€™t knowโ€ when asked whatโ€™s wrong

Sometimes they donโ€™t have the words yet โ€” they just need a safe space to feel, talk, and be understood.

Teaching kids that emotions are normal and manageable builds resilience that lasts a lifetime. ๐ŸŒฑ

Mental health isnโ€™t just about feeling โ€œbetter.โ€
Itโ€™s about learning how to care for yourself through every kind of day.

Small choices.
Honest moments.
Real support. ๐Ÿ’›

02/27/2026

๐ŸŒจ๏ธ If youโ€™re tired of winterโ€ฆ youโ€™re not alone.

Short days, cold weather, and being stuck inside can take a real toll on mental health. Feeling unmotivated, low on energy, or just โ€œover itโ€ makes sense this time of year.

A few gentle ways to support your mental health right now:
โ€ข Get outside when you can โ€” even a short walk helps
โ€ข Keep a simple routine to anchor your days
โ€ข Move your body in small, realistic ways
โ€ข Stay connected instead of isolating
โ€ข Be kind to yourself โ€” winter is heavy

You donโ€™t have to love this season to get through it.
One day at a time is enough. ๐Ÿ’›

The teen years come with big emotions, growing independence, and challenges that can feel overwhelming for both kids and parents. Wanting support doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re doing something wrong โ€” it means you care deeply about your teen and your family.

Counseling can offer a safe space for teens to talk, learn healthy coping skills, and feel understood โ€” while also giving parents guidance, tools, and reassurance along the way.

Support can make hard seasons feel more manageable.
And asking for help can strengthen your family, not weaken it. ๐ŸŒฑ

Youโ€™re doing your best โ€” and support can help you do it together. ๐Ÿ’›

๐ŸŒฟ Meet Our Newest Counselor โ€” Rose Gonzalez ๐ŸŒฟ

Weโ€™re so excited to welcome Rose to the Family Supportive Services of Northern Michigan team! Take a moment to get to know her in her own words:

"Hello! My name is Rose Gonzalez, and I am an excited new counselor at Family Supportive Services!

I got my education in Chicago at Moody Bible Institute. As a kid, I spent the summers here in Cadillac, so itโ€™s quite special to finally be back.

I love working with all ages, and my passion is to help families transform from surviving to thriving and encouraging each member to be the best version of themselves.

A few ways I help with that is by providing: 1) a judgement free space to talk, 2) tools to strengthen people's minds against anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses, and 3) connection with their local community and resources.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy painting, hiking, singing, play board games, and hanging out with my family and friends. I am married and have a little baby boy I love coming home to."

Weโ€™re grateful to have Rose serving our community and supporting individuals and families on their journey. ๐Ÿ’›
