WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital has earned a 2025 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in Quality!

Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards program recognizes top quartile performance (i.e., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes, and/or Patient Perspective.

The Performance Leadership Awards program is based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, a comprehensive and objective framework for assessing how rural hospitals are performing. INDEX benchmarks are relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure performance across multiple areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

In observation of National Rural Health Day (Nov. 20), six WVU Medicine hospitals have earned 2025 Performance Leadership Awards for excellence in rural healthcare.

Last night was our Food for Life Program focused on the Diabetes Initiative. The Initiative provides knowledge, tools, and lifestyle strategies to help individuals reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, to manage and possibly even reverse the disease.

The class featured nutrition education, a cooking demonstration, and provided participants with a selection of easy and affordable recipes to prepare at home.

Our next Food for Life Program will be Wednesday, February 11, 2026 focused on National Heart Health Month. Please be sure to register by February 4th!
