Today, Harrison Community Hospital proudly hosted a Donate Life flag raising ceremony in recognition of Donate Life Month. 💙💚

We were honored to have Alicia Strang, Director of Hospital Services for Lifebanc join us and share powerful insights on the importance of organ donation and the profound impact it has on individuals, families, and communities.

In support of this important cause, our pinwheel garden is now on display at the main hospital entrance, symbolizing hope, life, and the lives impacted by donation. A Donate Life Month information table will also be available in the hospital cafeteria throughout the month of April for those who would like to learn more.

Earlier in March, team members from WVU Medicine Golisano Children's visited to provide valuable education and hands-on training focused on OB and Pediatrics.

Their team shared not only clinical expertise, but also practical insights and best practices that our staff can carry into their daily work. Opportunities like this allow our team to stay current, strengthen their skills, and continue delivering the highest quality care to the patients and families we serve.

We are incredibly thankful for the time, effort, and dedication the Children’s team invested in supporting our staff. Collaborations like this truly make a difference, and we appreciate their ongoing partnership and commitment to excellence in patient care!

💚 April is Donate Life Month, and today we recognize Donate Life Living Donor Day.

In 2024, more than 7,000 individuals made the selfless decision to donate a kidney or a portion of their liver to someone waiting for a second chance at life. Others gave the healing gift of birth tissue, including placenta and amniotic membrane.

Grafts derived from birth tissue help promote natural wound healing and can make a meaningful difference in patient recovery.

Living donors are true heroes — offering hope, healing, and renewed life. Join us in honoring their generosity and the incredible impact they make every day. 💚
