Recently, our Altercare Summit Acres and Altercare Cambridge teams took part in the Zanesville Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Aside from sharing information about Altercare’s services with the attendees, staff also participated in the one-mile walk. We’re honored to have been a part of this event and show our support. 💜

Yesterday we celebrated National Coffee Day with a coffee café for residents and staff. Our HR and Activities teams joined forces to put their barista skills to the test and passed with flying colors. They served caramel macchiatos and pumpkin pie iced coffees. Both were delicious and was the perfect treat to keep everyone energized and happy! ☕

We all scream for ice cream! 🍦

Last Monday, we celebrated National Ice Cream Cone Day with a special delivery from Avalon Foodservice. Residents had the chance to choose from classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry, served in their favorite cone. While waffle cones were the top pick, sugar cones and Oreo cones were also a big hit!

It was a day filled with sweet treats, laughter, and plenty of smiles!

Each month, our residents get to choose somewhere to take a day trip. This month, they chose Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl, located in Zanesville. Some of our residents attended lunch together and got to pick out which ice cream they wanted. On the way out, we all screamed “Ice cream” and rang the bell for an outstanding time together! We can’t wait to see where our residents choose to go next month.

This fall, our residents are participating in a “Parks and Pleasure Tour” series where they’ll visit recreational parks. Both skilled nursing and assisted living residents have the opportunity to participate. A few weeks ago, as a part of our “Parks and Pleasure Tour” series, we enjoyed a trip to Cambridge for shopping and lunch at Theo’s. We then went to Miner’s Memorial Park and Big Muskie’s Bucket attraction in Morgan County, where we enjoyed viewing the leaves changing for the season. We enjoyed a short history lesson on the history of the Big Muskie Bucket, which was educational for everyone. Our residents had a wonderful time and are looking forward to our next “Parks and Pleasure Tour” destination!

Sunday was National Alzheimer’s Day. 💜
This day is dedicated to raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, as well as promoting research and support for those affected. Our Altercare Summit Acres staff, residents, and families showed their support by wearing purple ribbons. Our activities department also created a sensory table to promote the awareness of the 5 senses that are affect by Dementia. The sensory table included free fidgets, Play-Doh and other fun sensory gifts. We were proud to recognize this day and spread awareness for those who are affected by Alzheimer’s.

Last week, we wrapped up summer with a fun-filled Summer Bash! Residents, families, and friends came together to celebrate the season with games, prizes, and plenty of laughter. Residents tested their skills in activities like Minute to Win It, Castaway, and a Nerf challenge, winning lottery tickets as prizes along the way.
For dinner, everyone enjoyed their top choice, Wally’s Pizza Place, followed by refreshing Sno-cones for dessert. Every guest left with a smile, and a lottery ticket, in hand!

A few weeks ago, some of our residents and their families enjoyed Senior Day at the Noble County Fair. Everyone enjoyed a day full of fun fair activities such as animal barns, rides, and a variety of fair food. This was such a fun summer activity for these residents to participate in!
