After 44 years for myself and 25 years for Lisa, at Dakan Funeral Chapel, we have decided to pursue other interests, and spend more time together. We both want to thank our community for allowing us to serve your families over all these years. It has been our honor and privilege.

“Every goodbye should be as unique as the life it honors.

This family chose to take their loved one on one last ride together—side by side in the back of his pickup truck—just as he would have wanted.

At Dakan Funeral Chapel we help create farewells that feel true to the person you love, because the last ride should be as special as the first hello. ❤️”

Every year on June 14th, we replace our old flag with a new flag. The Veterans Hall has a drop box for proper retirement of the old flag.

Flag Day celebrates the history of the U.S. flag annually on June 14th. It’s observed on this day because on June 14th 1777, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes for the American flag, according to the U.S.Government Publishing Office.

We are all proud to be Americans, living under the stars and stripes which represents the freedoms and privileges that we enjoy here every day.

Featuring John M. Noorda
Licensed Mortician - Funeral Director

John Michael Noorda was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho and is a proud graduate of Pocatello High School. As a youth he had a passion for playing football, snow skiing, and the outdoors. He excelled at both individual and team sports. Upon high school graduation, he served a church mission, then pursued his studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho.

During his time at BYU-I, John was eager to try as much as he could to find his passion in life. He studied multiple disciplines including, social work, sociology, business, and communications. These experiences led him to realize that his passion in life was service. He then took a semester off and volunteered to teach English at an elementary school in Kiev, Ukraine. This allowed him to travel and experience the many different cultures that Europe has to offer. When he returned home from his travels and finished his associates degree, he enrolled at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science where he received a Bachelor of Mortuary Science.

After graduating with his four-year degree, John worked at a well-respected funeral home in his hometown of Pocatello while also working as a manager for his family’s local business. In 2017, John and his family moved to the Treasure Valley to pursue a job opportunity. He has greatly enjoyed serving and living in the Nampa/Caldwell community. He is very patriotic in spirit and has a strong moral compass. In his spare time, he is out creating adventures and memories with his wife and children, exploring all that the area has to offer. He finds joy in being active with his family and community. John spends as much time with his children as possible. He is always looking for new opportunities to enrich his life and the lives of those around him.
