As we celebrate 75 years of serving our community, we’re reflecting on what makes West Valley Medical Center so special. For one of our longtime imaging team members, the answer is simple: “My favorite thing about West Valley is and always will be the people! We have the nicest, kindest, and most caring individuals here and we truly treat each other and our patients like family,” said Kristi, imaging team.

Throughout her 34 years at West Valley, Kristi has witnessed firsthand just how much the field of imaging has evolved:
“The most significant change I’ve seen (besides the color of the walls) is the technology. We’ve gone from using film processors to digital images, from CT scanners to multi-faceted scanners that can now perform cardiac CTs and create 3D images. Now, we can send images anywhere in the world in just minutes!”

Through all the advances, one thing remains unchanged — the people who make West Valley feel like home.

🧠⏱️ Every second counts when someone is suffering from a stroke. At West Valley Medical Center, we’re proud to be part of our larger HCA Healthcare system of care, which collectively responds to strokes 45% faster than the national standard. We know door-to-needle (DTN) time is critical. Here, we explain what DTN time is and why it matters.

DTN time is the amount of time between an ischemic stroke patient's arrival at the hospital (“door”) and when they receive a clot-busting medication (“needle”) to help restore blood flow to the brain. The faster the medicine is given, the more brain cells can potentially be saved, helping to reduce the risk of long-term disability or stroke.

Know the signs of stroke. Act FAST. Call 911 immediately.

The Patricia Frist Memorial Scholarship, established and funded by the HCA Healthcare Foundation, supports dependents of HCA Healthcare colleagues in pursuing post-secondary education!

One of these award recipients is Colton. He just graduated from Kuna High and is headed to play football at Rocky Mountain College in Montana! His mom Joy, is a vascular technologist in our Cardiac Cath Lab. She says this scholarship from means so much and Colton echoes her sentiments:

“Receiving this award is a reminder that my hard work does not go unnoticed and to keep getting better every single day. I will forever be grateful for the philanthropy of HCA Healthcare through the Patricia Frist Memorial Scholarship because this scholarship helps me and it lightens the financial burden on my family,” said Colton.
