THIS is EXCITING!! Sumner County is included in the work and benefits of this change-making grant for childcare!!
ANNOUNCEMENT: We Got the Grant!
We’re excited to share that we have received Child Care Zones funding to expand relationship-centered supports for early childhood providers, families, and community partners across five South Central Kansas counties.
This investment will allow us to offer a range of coordinated supports, including professional learning, family learning opportunities, community-based collaboration, grants for new and existing providers, and the development of a substitute pool, which are all designed to strengthen connection, safety, and consistency for young children wherever they are: at home, in child care, and in the community.
A core component of this work is the use of Conscious Discipline–informed practices, which help adults build shared language and supportive approaches. At the same time, this initiative goes beyond any single training or model. It is focused on alignment, access, and long-term capacity, so families and providers are supported by systems that work together rather than in isolation.
Too often, families and providers are working toward the same goals but using different tools and language. This initiative is about changing that. By creating shared understanding and coordinated supports, we can reduce stress for adults and create more predictable, nurturing environments for children.
Through this work, participating counties will have access to:
-Relationship-centered professional learning for early childhood providers, informed by Conscious Discipline
-Practical, welcoming learning opportunities for families that align with the care their children receive
-Community collaboration and coordination focused on supporting the adults who care for young children
-A regional approach that builds long-term capacity, not one-time training
This work is grounded in a simple belief: When adults feel supported and connected, children thrive.
FIRST TRAINING DATE: February 7th, 2026! Save the date!
More details, including opportunities for providers, families, and community partners to participate, will be shared soon. We look forward to growing this work together across South Central Kansas.
Support is coming. Connection is the focus. Families and providers belong in this work together.
