When's the last time you two really laughed together?

Science says it matters more than you think. Dr. Emily Nagoski, NYT bestselling author and s*x & relationship researcher, reminds us that shared laughter isn't just fun, it's relationship fuel. Even just remembering a funny moment you've shared can bring you closer.

So tonight, skip the scroll and bring up an old memory that made you both cry-laugh. Your relationship will thank you.

Not fighting doesn’t automatically mean a relationship is healthy, and conflict doesn't necessarily mean a relationship is unhealthy.

Healthy couples do argue, but they argue in ways that lead to repair, understanding, and growth.

It’s not the absence of conflict that makes a relationship strong, it’s how you handle it afterward.

Love is not always in the grand gestures, it's often in the small, intimate moments you share every day. Connection can happen in unlikely scenarios, if you're willing to look for it.

We’ve all heard the advice: “Never go to bed angry.” But in reality, it’s not that simple.

Going to bed angry isn’t automatically harmful. What matters is how you handle the conflict. Here are three things to consider before pulling an all-nighter:

1. Timing matters: Sometimes taking a pause to cool down prevents saying things you’ll regret.
2. Intentional repair: Leaving space to revisit the conversation with empathy and curiosity is key.
3. Mutual understanding: The goal isn’t just to “win” or avoid discomfort, but to feel heard and respected.

You have my permission to sleep on it.

Emotional distance doesn’t usually happen all at once. It builds slowly in the missed bids for attention, the unresolved tension, the routines that replace real connection, and the moments where one or both partners stop feeling truly seen.

Over time, what once felt easy can start to feel unfamiliar. Disconnection doesn’t have to mean the relationship is broken, but it can be a signal that something important needs attention.

With the right support, couples can learn to understand what’s creating the distance, rebuild emotional safety, and find their way back to each other.

If your relationship feels more like roommates than partners lately, you’re not alone, and it doesn’t have to stay that way.

One question I hear quite often is, "Should relationships be easy, or do they take work?”

The answer is both—and neither, in the way people usually mean it.

The right relationship shouldn’t feel like a constant uphill climb. You shouldn’t have to convince someone to meet you, hear you, or care. At the same time, no relationship stays effortless forever.

Real partnership does require attention, honesty, and the willingness to repair when things go off track. The couples who last aren’t the ones who never struggle, they’re the ones who don’t let distance linger, and turn toward each other even when it would be easier not to.

A good relationship feels steady more than it feels hard, and the work it requires feels like it matters.

Have you heard the term "ghost husband" floating around social media? I see a lot of these in my practice: the husband who feels invisible in his wife's world, who becomes disconnected, unengaged, and emotionally absent. Unfortunately, this can often lead to affairs.

It doesn’t have to be a death sentence for your marriage. With the right therapist, you can find a new direction where both partners feel heard, supported, and prioritized.

Empty nesting is a transition in parenting *and* in partnership. It often brings an unexpected question: Who are we to each other now?

For many couples, this is the first time in years they’re relating without the daily focus on kids. That shift can feel disorienting, and also full of possibility, as many are left to rediscover connection, communication, and each other.

Some couples drift, others grow closer than ever. What matters most is how you choose to show up in this new season.

If you’re in this season (or heading toward it), you’re not alone in navigating what comes next.

🌸 Spring is here—a season of growth, renewal, and new beginnings.

Just like the world around us is coming back to life, relationships can, too. If your marriage or partnership has been feeling stuck, disconnected, or weighed down by old patterns, now is the perfect time to hit refresh.

As a couples therapist, I help partners step out of old habits, reconnect, and start seeing each other with fresh eyes. Spring reminds us that change is possible, growth is natural, and even the hardest seasons can lead to something beautiful.

If you’re ready to invest in your relationship and create a stronger, more fulfilling connection, let’s start this new season together.
