UPDATED OBITUARY-FRANK ANDERSON

Big Creek---Frank Larry Anderson, 73, passed away at The Magnolia of Oxford on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Born March 15, 1952, in Grenada, MS, he was the son of the late Douglas Lamar Anderson and the late Nina Roane Anderson. Frank was a graduate of Clarksdale High School, and he was a member and longtime deacon of Shiloh Baptist Church in Big Creek. After high school, he attended Northwest Community College and earned an associate's degree. On December 27, 1975, he married Kathy Taylor Anderson, and they have spent nearly 50 wonderful years together. Frank retired as a Survey Party Chief for the Mississippi Department of Transportation after 37 years of dedicated service. In his free time, he was an avid hunter and bird dog enthusiast. He traveled all over the country, and even out of the country several times, to go hunting, and he loved working with his dogs. Another hobby of his that he got great joy from was collecting, trading, and selling guns. He and his wife would travel all over to go to gun shows and expositions.
Frank was loved deeply by those around him, and his family and friends will forever cherish his memory in their hearts.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 12:00pm at Shiloh Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Shiloh Baptist Church. Interment will be held at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Big Creek following the service, with Randy Kirk, Bro. Mark Longino, and Bro. Joe Russell officiating.
Pallbearers will be Robert Doolittle, David Spivey, Quinn Rounsaville, Dale Goodson, Johnny Baughman, Doug Crutchfield, Howard Williams, and Paul Martin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Shiloh Baptist Church.
He leaves behind his wife, Kathy Taylor Anderson of Big Creek; daughter, Alison Anderson Morton (Clay) of Hernando; grandchildren, Vera Kate Ball and Sebastian Morton; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Lamar Anderson and Nina Roane Anderson.

UPDATED OBITUARY-RUBEL MOORE

Vardaman---Rubel Eugene Moore, 58, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Born June 15, 1967, in Houston, MS, he was the son of the late Elbert Lee Moore, Jr. and the late Ruth James Moore. He was a 1985 graduate of Vardaman High School, and he was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.

Rubel has worked in farming as a mechanic for many years for Topashaw Farms in Vardaman, but he was a jack of all trades and could make or fix almost anything. He was a 3rd Degree Master Mason at Vardaman Masonic Hall, #527. Rubel was a true outdoorsman; he loved hunting and fishing. When hunting season rolled around, he would go hunting any chance he was able to go. When there was nothing to hunt, he enjoyed taking his boat out on the lake to go fishing

Rubel had a kind heart, and he always thought of others. He was an independent man, and he never wanted to be a burden to anyone. He was loved by so many, and his friends and family will forever cherish all the times they spent together.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11:00am at Pryor Funeral Home, with Phil Lucius officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Derma.

Pallbearers will be Keith James, Billy James, Brodee Moore, Barry Lester, Chad Lucius, and J.C. Montroy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Springer, Barry Lee Gregg, Jr., and Jeremy Moore.

He leaves behind his brothers, Mady Moore (Beverly) of Slate Springs and Terry Moore (Becky) of Calhoun City; nieces, Kenzie Griffin (Kevin) and Julie Mills (Corey); nephews, Jeremy Moore, Brodee Moore, Barry Gregg, Jr.; special friends, Chad and Sandra Lucius, Billy and Deneen James, Ryker, Coy, Wavy, and Wrivy; the New Providence Baptist Church Family; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Lee Moore, Jr. and Ruth James Moore.

UPDATED OBITUARY-BILLY WAYNE SKINNER

Vardaman---Billy Wayne Skinner, 75, passed away at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo on Friday, September 26, 2025. Born June 16, 1950 in Calhoun County, he was the son of the late Joseph “Daddy Buck” Skinner and the late Pauline Pettit Skinner. Billy Wayne was a 1969 graduate of Vardaman High School, and he was a member of Vardaman First Baptist Church. On December 28, 1974, he married Connie Skinner, and they have spent nearly 51 years together.
Billy Wayne served his country with the Mississippi National Guard for over five years, from 1970 to 1976. After his time in the National Guard, he began his career with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, and he retired after 28 years of service.
In his free time, he loved to be outdoors, either fishing or deer hunting. The hunting was serious, and he was always in pursuit of the big buck. He kept the freezer full of deer meat each year. Billy Wayne was a true Vardaman Ram. He loved the town of Vardaman and had a passion for Ram Football. The players, coaches, fans, and just being at the football field meant so much to him.
Above all else, Billy Wayne loved his family. He cherished every moment he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Billy Wayne was loved dearly by his friends and family, and his long-lasting memory will forever be cherished in their hearts.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 1:00pm at Hillcrest Cemetery in Vardaman, with Bro. Chris Duncan officiating.

UPDATED OBITUARY-BOB WHITE

Robert Lee “Bob” White, 77, passed away Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Born December 23, 1947, in Derma, he was the son of the late Curtis Robert White and the late Dorothy Lee Vanlandingham White. He attended Derma School, and he was a member of Pittsboro United Pentecostal Church. Bob worked for most of his life in the furniture manufacturing business, and he retired after many years of service from Washington Manufacturing. After retirement, he did some carpentry work to keep him busy.

In his free time, Bob liked to get out and ride the roads. He always hated sitting at home.

He also loved to ride motorcycles. He loved his dog, Buddy, like a child, and they used to sit in the chair together and watch TV.

Bob’s family and friends loved him deeply, and they will forever honor his memory in their hearts.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Saturday prior to the service from 11:00am to 2:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Oak Springs Cemetery in Derma, with Bro. Jerry Wilson and Bro. Jeff Flake officiating.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Earl Goodson, Terry Neese, Chris White, Bill Haimes, Dewayne Lester, and James Lollar.

He leaves behind his son, Chris White (Patricia) of Calhoun City; daughter, Felicia Haimes (Bill) of Vardaman; brother, Steve White (Mary Ann) of Vardaman; sisters, Margaret Myers of Calhoun City and Brenda Langford (Kenny) of Derma; step-sons, Michael Taylor (Tanya) of Iuka, Melvin Gann, Jr. (Cate) of Houston, and Jesse Gann of Houston; step-daughters, Amy Kumar (Vinod) of Vardaman and Vannie Moore (Chaitanya) of Iuka; grandchildren, Dewayne Lester (Magan), Misty Logan (Jarred), Leona Tutor, Catlin Lester (Miranda), Linda Fowler, Christy Blakeney (Josh), and Destiny Tharp; great-grandchildren, Natalie Tutor, Nayomie Tutor, Brayden Tutor, Alyssa Kellum, Tanner Lester, Remmie Kirk, Delilah Lester, Dexter Dobbs, William Fowler, Waylon Fowler, Heaven Blakeney, Joshua Blakeney, and Jessica Blakeney; great-great-grandchildren, Kenzleigh Blakeney and Aloni Bracey; and 10 step-grandchildren.

UPDATED OBITUARY-PAULETTE SUBER

Paulette Cooper Suber, 82, passed away at Baptist Nursing Home in Calhoun City on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Born May 29, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Cooper and the late Pearl Britt Cooper. She was a 1961 graduate of Calhoun City High School, and she was a longtime member of Calhoun City First Baptist Church. She married Dale Suber, and they spent many years together until his passing in 2001. She served as a bank teller at Regions Bank, formerly Sunburst Bank, in Calhoun City for 42 years until her retirement.
Paulette loved her family more than anything in the world, and she cherished every moment she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved visiting with her friends. She was always ready to get up and go for car rides. In her younger years, she loved to work in her yard and tend to her flowers.
Paulette was loved by those who knew her, and they will forever honor her memory in their hearts.

UPDATED OBITUARY-WAYNE REYNOLDS

Cole’s Creek---David “Wayne” Reynolds, 63, passed away at his home in the Cole’s Creek Community on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Born September 5, 1961, in Vardaman, he was the son of the late Walter Buford Reynolds and the late Mary Christine Stapp Reynolds. He attended school in Calhoun City and he was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. On May 21, 1983, he married the love of his life, Lisa Dawn Havens Reynolds, and they have spent 42 wonderful years together. He worked as a logger for many years with David Mallory and Sidney Langston, Kevin and Darren Harrison, and Greg Lovorn. He also worked for Waste Management in the County until his retirement.
Wayne was a quiet, humble man who loved the Lord and his family more than anything in the world. He was an incredible, husband, father, and Pop, and he cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. He put his family above himself always; he was a true family man. He was saved over 20 years ago, and each year since, his faith grew stronger. He loved his Shiloh Baptist Church Family, and he worshipped the Lord right until the end. He showed incredible faith and strength throughout his battle, and he knew exactly where he was going.
Wayne was a jack of all trades; he could fix or build anything better than he could buy it. If his wife Lisa could dream it up, he could build it. Wayne also loved the outdoors. He enjoyed going deer, turkey and hog hunting, and setting trotlines for catfish.
His family and friends loved him deeply, and they will forever honor his memory in their hearts.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 2:00pm at Shiloh Baptist Church. Visitation will also be held on Friday prior to the funeral service from 12:00pm until service time at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery with Bro. Mark Longino officiating.

UPDATED OBITUARY-MARK PARKER

Robert Martin “Mark” Parker, 64, passed away at his home in Courtland, MS on Friday, August 29, 2025. Born July 2, 1961, in Bruce, he was the son of JoAnn Alexander Parker Tedford and the late Jerril Parker. He was a member of the 1979 class of Vardaman High School, and he was a member of Duncan Hill Baptist Church. On December 3, 2003, he married Bonnie Sullivan Parker, and they have spent almost 22 wonderful years together. He worked for many years as an electrical technician for Crown Cork & Seal.
Mark loved the outdoors, and he took every opportunity he had to get outside. He loved hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers, especially deer hunting. In his younger years, he loved to go camping and canoeing with his family. He loved his family deeply, and he cherished the time he was able to spend with them.
Mark was loved by so many, and they will forever honor his memory in their hearts.
