Mamas, I need your help. A small amount of your time!
If you or someone you know has Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, you may have already heard:
BCBS has dropped lactation coverage through The Lactation Network—the very partnership that allowed many of our local, trusted IBCLCs to provide insurance-covered care.
This affects 70–80% of families in my community—and likely many of yours, too.
As a fellow breastfeeding mama and advocate, I can’t stay silent.
Because this isn’t just an insurance issue—it’s a maternal and infant health crisis.
Why this matters to all of us:
Lactation support isn’t a perk.
It’s not an “extra.”
It’s an essential health service that helps us feed our babies, protects our mental health, and saves lives.
Without it, breastfeeding rates will drop.
Postpartum depression will rise.
And outcomes for moms and babies—especially in states like Mississippi, where we already face some of the worst maternal health statistics in the U.S.—will continue to suffer.
We can’t let this go unchallenged.
That’s why I’m offering to help—for free.
If you’re ready to take a stand, I will:
• Write a professional letter on your behalf (sharing your story and demanding change)
• Help you contact your HR department or BCBS directly
• Support you in raising your voice—for yourself, your baby, and the next mama who needs this care
All I ask is:
1. Send me a private message
2. Locate a contact email for your HR department or BCBS rep
3. I’ll handle the letter—you send it where it needs to go
Share and tag everyone that might can help.
Tag Cross Blue Shield and/or your local one like Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi.
