Atrium Health Floyd is celebrating the incredible legacy of Dr. George Bosworth, who is retiring from the board after more than two decades of service. In recognition of his leadership and dedication, Dr. Bosworth has been named Chair Emeritus.
Dr. Bosworth, son of Harbin Clinic founder Dr. Ed Bosworth, made a life-changing decision in 1989—leaving a successful pediatrics practice in Atlanta to serve families in Rome, Georgia. He continued the work of Dr. Harlan Starr and quickly became a trusted figure in the community.
Since joining the Floyd Healthcare Management board in 2001, Dr. Bosworth has helped shape the future of healthcare in northwest Georgia and northeast Alabama. As board chair from 2012 to 2021, he led efforts to expand access to care for rural communities, oversee major facility renovations, guide Floyd through the COVID-19 pandemic, support the strategic partnership with Atrium Health and invest in trauma services to better serve patients in critical need.
Dr. Bosworth’s impact will be felt for generations to come. We thank him for his vision, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our mission.
