“I hope there is nothing my children see in me that customers don't see in me because my goal with my shop and my customers is to create an extended family. I want my customers to see my shop as an extension of their home and us as extended family. I want my shop to be a place where they can come to relax and feel calm and come and tell me about their family (the good and the bad), they can come to share their joys and worries, their laughter and tears, we are more than just a retail space; that is my hope. I hope my customers will come to see me as more than just the shop owner and see me as a friend and family because I don't just see them as customers, I worry about them when they have not been in for a while, or if they are not feeling well. I rejoice in their new family members being born, celebrate their graduations, love to see their creations, feel their worries. To me they are family.
My children are grown, but I hope they learn from watching me open this business that it is never too late! You are never too old to make your dream a reality! That even when things feel really heavy and days seem very dark, you have the strength within you to pull yourself up and fulfil your dream NEVER GIVE UP!”

This campaign represents a vibrant group of women and mothers who are part of downtown but does not represent every single business owner. We also understand that the influence of "mom" shows up in many ways-including mentors, role models, extended family and the women who support and inspire these journeys behind the scenes. The stories you'll see over the coming days are from those who were able to participate within our timeframe, and we're so grateful for their willingness to share. We look forward to continuing to highlight more of the incredible women of Main Street in the future!
