FREE GROCERIES ON TUESDAY: This Tuesday, Feb. 24th, visit Emmaus Baptist Church of Resaca from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. for FREE GROCERIES. All are welcome; nothing required. The church is located at 4268 South Dixie Hwy. in Resaca.

🚨TEMPORARY CHANGE IN BLEWER FOOD DISTRIBUTING: Blewer Food Center will temporarily be distributing at Blackwood Springs Baptist Church 4921 Fairmount Hwy SE Calhoun, Ga 30701. Distribution will take place Tuesday's & Wednesday's 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m

First time visitors need to bring the following: Drivers License, Photo ID, and Social Security Card.

No appointment is needed, however if you are able to email the Director so they can know who they are expecting to serve that would be greatly appreciated. You may email the Director at blewerfoodcenter@gmail.com and please include your name, last 4 of your social security number, how many currently live in the household and preferred/approximate pick up date and time.

❤️HAM MED PROVIDING FREE HEART HEALTH ASSESSMENTS: Hamilton Medical Center (HMC), part of Vitruvian Health, is providing free heart health assessments at various locations in Northwest Georgia in February.

February is American Heart Month, and HMC is encouraging people to focus on their cardiovascular health. Local assessments will include cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure checks. Participants may enter to win a heart health basket.

Assessments include:
•Wednesday, Feb. 11, 10 a.m. to noon, Bradley Wellness Center, 1225 Broadrick Drive, Dalton

•Friday, Feb. 13, 9 to 11:30 a.m., Whitfield County Senior Center, 302 Cappes Street, Dalton

•Tuesday, Feb. 17, 10 a.m. to noon, Murray County Senior Center, 820 Maddox Parkway, Chatsworth

•Wednesday, Feb. 18, 9:30 to 11 a.m., Catoosa County Senior Center, 1442 Catoosa Circle, Ringgold

•Friday, Feb. 20, 9 to 11 a.m., Gordon County Senior Center, 150 Cambridge Court, Calhoun

If you would like to attend any of these events and need assistance with interpretation services and/or auxiliary aids, please call 706-272-6114 at least one day prior to the event.

To help prevent heart disease, you can choose healthy habits like consuming healthy foods and drinks, maintaining a healthy weight, getting regular physical activity and by not smoking.

Thank you to those of you that continue to help fill the Blessing Box. So many are in need in our community and your contributions are so helpful. I am grateful and I know our friends that need the help are too. I went by earlier today and added a few things but others had stopped by adding items too. Thank you!

To those of you that have donated foods to help with our Blessing Box outside Healing Hands Clinic, THANK YOU! It would be so difficult to keep it filled if we didn’t have your help. There are so many in need right now, and especially with the snow/sleet headed our way. I’m so grateful for your help!

There were bags underneath the blessing box but I was able to rearrange and filled it full. A couple of bags I brought inside, but I will use the food in them to fill it again as things are taken. Whomever put hand warmers in there, what a GREAT idea!! Thanks!

I am so grateful to all of you that have liked/followed our Healing Hands Clinic FB page. By liking/following you are helping us get the word out about our free medical clinic. Even though we’ve been in existence since February 2014, there are still some that aren’t aware of us. Thank you for helping us reach those in our community that need to see a provider but have no insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.

Friends, please like/follow our new FB page. We shut down the old page because I can leave this one with the clinic when I retire. I’m not going anywhere, but I want to make sure that those that come after me have a page that stays with the clinic. Please invite your friends. We are trying to generate a larger online presence to help us get the word out to those that know nothing about a free clinic in Calhoun. Can you believe we’ve been open since February 2014 and we still have people saying “oh, I never knew you were here.”
