We're Building On A Legacy Of Personal, Caring Service For the People Of Calhoun.
The history of Calhoun Drug Company is as much as a part of the area as the city of Calhoun itself. It was the late 1800s when Dr. G.L. Chastain dispensed the first medications in Calhoun from the city courthouse.
However, it wasn't long before the need for medications grew too large for Dr. Chastain. The solution? Recruiting his cousin A.H. "Uncle Pike" Chastain to take over the pharmacy. In 1883 the name was changed to Chastain & Chastain Drug Company and was moved to the corner of Court Street and Park Avenue.
Shortly after the move, the name was changed to Chastain & Morris Drug Company. When Mr. Hugh Orr bought the pharmacy in 1930 he changed the name again to Orr Drug Company.
It wasn't until Frank Christian purchased the business in 1946 that the name Calhoun Drug Company was used.
