There are many different kinds of homes and it has often been said that "home is where the heart is." For the residents of White River Health Care and Rehab, their home is now on Highway 56 in Calico Rock. We've been in places that feel like an institution, but not White River Health Care and Rehab. It really is a home.
Founded in the 1960's by our dear friends Dean and Peggy Hudson and her parents Tip and Retha Wiseman, our local nursing home has been caring for our loved ones for generations. Dean always said, "folks need to stay in their home for as long as they can, but when they can no longer stay there alone bring them to our home and we will love them like family." He meant every word and their team live that motto every day.
This is National Nursing Home Worker week and we are honored to join in celebrating and honoring them. They are so much more than staff or workers at a nursing home. They are family and they love on our dear friends and loved ones every day.
We are truly honored to work with them every day, too. We see their devotion, hard work, kindness, and abiding love that they shower on the residents who call their workplace home.
Our family has seen the skill they bring to recovery and healing through their Medicare A Rehab Skilled Care. Without their love, our loved one might not have ever returned home, but they did and are thriving.
As you drive by on Highway 56 this week, say a little prayer of thanksgiving for the work and love they are doing. And, if you have a few minutes, stop by for a visit. The residents and workers both love having friends come in to see them.
Home really is where the heart is...and the family that works at White River Health Care and Rehab provide that heart and make our nursing home a home with love, respect, and care.
