Let’s talk about IBS.
Not the cute, “my stomach is sensitive” version. The real one.
The bloating-after-everything.The 3-day-no-bowel-movement.The diarrhea-before-meetings.The “why do I look six months pregnant?” version.

Here’s what most people don’t realize:

According to the Rome Foundation Global Study (2021), approximately 40% of adults worldwide meet criteria for a Disorder of Gut–Brain Interaction (DGBI) - which includes IBS.

Forty percent!

This is not rare. This is not fringe. This is not “just stress.”

And here’s where it gets more interesting.

Research suggests that a significant subset of IBS patients - particularly IBS-D - may have underlying Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). Studies estimate anywhere from 30–60% depending on testing methods and population studied.

That’s not a coincidence. That’s a missed layer.

Yet what are people told?

“Eat more fiber.”
“Take a probiotic.”
“Reduce stress.”
If it were that simple, 40% of the world wouldn’t still be suffering.

Fiber can worsen methane-driven constipation. Probiotics can worsen bloating in SIBO. Stress reduction without motility support doesn’t fix relapse loops.

The gut is not just a food issue.
It’s a motility issue.

If your gut won’t heal… look at your environment.
Not just your food.
Take a closer look at...
Your home.
Your workplace.
Your stress load.
Your relationships.
Your air.
Your water.
Your nervous system.

Because here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear:
Chronic gut dysfunction is often a terrain issue, not a food issue.
Mold exposure → immune activation → cytokine signaling → motility disruption → bloating + relapse.
Chronic relational stress → sympathetic dominance → vagal suppression → slowed digestion → SIBO recurrence.
Workplace burnout → cortisol dysregulation → altered microbiome resilience → inflammation.

You can take all the supplements in the world.
But if the environment stays inflammatory, the gut stays defensive.
This is why protocols fail.
This is why relapse happens.
This is why regulation > restriction.

Healing isn’t just what you eat...
It’s what you breathe.
What you tolerate.
What you live inside.
And sometimes the bravest medicine isn’t antimicrobial.
It’s environmental.

Here’s what almost no one explains.

Histamine isn’t just about allergies.

It regulates:
• stomach acid
• motility
• immune signaling
• vascular tone

-

When mast cells are unstable, histamine becomes reactive.

Now layer in hydrogen sulfide.

Certain bile-loving, sulfur-reducing bacteria thrive in higher fat environments - especially in women doing keto or paleo long term.

They metabolize sulfur compounds and produce hydrogen sulfide gas (H₂S).

-

In excess, H₂S can:
• irritate the gut lining
• impair butyrate oxidation
• stress mitochondria
• amplify mast cell activation

-

And mast cell activation = histamine release.

Now you have:
High sulfur intake
Altered bile flow
H₂S overproduction
Mast cell instability
And it all ends in you asking yourself...

“Why does healthy food wreck me?”

This is why so many high-achieving women come to me confused.

They’re disciplined.
They’re eating “clean.”
They’re following every rule.

But their ecosystem isn’t balanced.

And here’s the nuance:

You cannot live low-histamine forever.
You cannot live low-fat forever.
You cannot eliminate sulfur forever.

Restriction isn’t the solution.
Regulation is.

Did you know... your gut doesn’t just respond to food.
It responds to signals.

Neural signals.
Electrical signals.
Cellular frequency.

The gut–brain axis isn’t just chemical - it’s electrical and energetic, too.
And when that signaling is disrupted, digestion, mood, inflammation, and even metabolism start to feel… stuck.

-

This is why modalities like PEMF and terahertz frequencies have my attention.

Not as replacements for labs or nutrition -
but as tools that support the systems that run everything.

-

When the nervous system downshifts, digestion often improves.
When cellular signaling becomes clearer, the body responds more efficiently.
When inflammation quiets, metabolism stops fighting so hard.

This is especially relevant for:
• nervous-system-driven gut issues
• chronic stress patterns
