Popper fidgets are a great way to support sensory-motor development while kids play. When children press each bubble, they’re building important skills like:

👉 Finger isolation
👉 Hand strength and proprioceptive input
👉 Eye–hand coordination
👉 Bilateral coordination (using both hands together)
👉 Wrist stability for writing and fine motor tasks
👉 Self-regulation and focus

The popping sound and tactile feedback also provide visual, auditory, and touch input, which can help children stay engaged and calm.

Sometimes the simplest toys can support some of the most important developmental skills.

Maternal mental health is an essential part of both parent and baby’s wellbeing.

Many mothers experience emotional changes during pregnancy and postpartum, and while some are temporary (like the baby blues), others may need additional support and care.

Maternal Mental Health (MMH) conditions can include postpartum depression, anxiety, or longer-term mood disorders. These experiences are common, treatable, and nothing to feel ashamed of.

At Nurture Collective, when we support a mother’s mental health, we also support:
👉 secure bonding and attachment
👉 infant emotional development
👉 family wellbeing

Early support can make a meaningful difference for both mother and baby.

If you or someone you love may be struggling during pregnancy or postpartum, reaching out to a healthcare provider or mental health professional is an important first step. You don’t have to navigate it alone. 🤍

Many people think Occupational Therapy is just about handwriting or fine motor skills… but it’s so much more.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy helps children build the skills they need to participate in everyday life... at home, at school, and in their communities.

OT supports children with:
👉 Fine motor skills (writing, grasping, manipulating small objects)
👉 Gross motor skills (balance, jumping, coordination)
👉 Daily independence (dressing, feeding, hygiene)
👉 Sensory processing
👉 Social participation
👉 Emotional regulation

These skills help children play, learn, connect, and grow with confidence.

And just as importantly. OT also supports parents and families, helping them understand their child’s unique development and providing strategies that make everyday routines easier.

Early support can make a big difference. 💛

Feeding is never just about food. For many families, it’s tied to stress, worry, guilt, exhaustion… and sometimes even postpartum anxiety or depression.

👉 Feeding Therapy supports how your child eats. It building oral motor skills, reducing sensory sensitivities, and helping little ones feel confident and safe at mealtimes.
👉 Nutritional Support focuses on what and how much your child eats. It makes sure their body is getting what it needs to grow and thrive.

But here’s what we don’t talk about enough:
✅️ When feeding feels hard, it affects maternal mental health.

✅️ When a baby struggles to eat, it can impact bonding, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

✅️ Supporting infant feeding means supporting the parent too.

At Nurture Collective, we believe mealtimes should feel safe, supported, and connected not stressful.

If feeding has felt overwhelming lately, you’re not alone. And you deserve support just as much as your child does.

Visual perception is more than just “seeing.” It’s how the brain makes sense of what the eyes see.

Visual perception skills help children:
👉 Read and recognize letters
👉 Copy from the board
👉 Complete puzzles
👉 Dress themselves
👉 Find items in their bag
👉 Write with proper spacing and organization

When these skills are still developing, children may struggle with reading, writing, attention to detail, or even daily tasks even if their eyesight is perfectly fine.

Visual perception is a processing skill, not just a vision skill.

At Nurture Collective, our occupational therapy services support children in strengthening visual perceptual skills through play-based, functional activities tailored to their needs.

If you’ve noticed your child having difficulty with reading, copying, puzzles, or visual organization, it may be worth exploring further.

Early support builds strong learning foundations.

Does your child seem overly sensitive to sounds, lights, clothing, or busy spaces? Or constantly seeking movement, crashing, jumping, or chewing?

It might not be “behavior.”
It might be sensory processing.

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) affects how the brain receives and responds to sensory input. Some children are hypersensitive (avoid), while others are sensory-seeking (crave more input). Many show a mix of both.

When sensory needs aren’t understood, children can look:
👉 Dysregulated
👉 Defiant
👉 Distracted
👉 Emotional

But underneath, their nervous system may simply be overwhelmed.

Occupational therapy at Nurture Collective can help identify sensory patterns and create practical strategies for home and school, so children can feel regulated, safe, and successful.

If you’ve been wondering whether your child’s reactions are “more than typical,” trust that instinct. Early support makes a difference.

Toddler biting can feel shocking… and exhausting.

But most of the time, biting isn’t “mean.” It’s communication.

Toddlers bite when they’re:
👉 Overstimulated
👉 Frustrated with limited words
👉 Seeking sensory input
👉 Teething
👉 Struggling with impulse control

Their brain develops faster than their self-control.

The goal isn’t punishment... it’s teaching:
✅️ Stay calm
✅️ Use simple, clear language
✅️ Offer safe alternatives
✅️ Reinforce gentle hands
✅️ Stay consistent

Biting is usually a phase, especially when adults respond calmly and predictably.

If biting feels constant or overwhelming, you don’t have to navigate it alone. We support families in understanding the nervous system behind behaviors.

📌 Save this for when it happens again.

After-school meltdowns aren’t “bad behaviour”. They’re a sign of an overloaded nervous system.

All day, our children hold it together. They follow rules, manage expectations, navigate friendships, and use every ounce of self-control they have. When they get home, they finally feel safe enough to fall apart.

Instead of punishment, think regulation:
👉 Movement to release stress
👉 Fuel to refill their tank
👉 Rest to reduce stimulation
👉 Support to co-regulate and reconnect

They’re not choosing to lose control, instead their brains are simply tired.

At Nurture Collective, we help parents understand the nervous system beneath the behaviour so you can respond with confidence, calm, and connection.

Save this for the next tough afternoon and share with a parent who needs the reminder.

The “terrible twos” aren’t terrible. They’re transformational!!
Toddlers aren’t trying to be difficult... they’re:
👉 Discovering independence
👉 Learning they have a voice (“NO!”)
👉 Feeling big emotions with limited language
👉 Developing emotional brains faster than logical ones

This stage isn’t misbehavior.
It’s brain development.

What looks like defiance is often:
💛 A need for connection
💛 A need for co-regulation
💛 A need for understanding

When we shift from punishment to guidance, we support healthy emotional growth.

If you’re in the thick of toddler meltdowns you’re not failing. You’re parenting a developing brain.

Save this reminder for hard days.
