All outdoor and indoor air has some radon in it. Radon can build up in the air in any home or building whether it has a basement, is sealed or drafty, or is new or old. It is a risk anywhere in the country. There is no known safe level of radon, and you should always aim to have the lowest level. https://bit.ly/3DHjEgE

Human trafficking is happening everywhere--often hidden in plain sight. It's not just a statistic. It's real people, real lives, real trauma. Learn the signs. Speak up. Protect the vulnerable. Awareness saves lives.

As January starts to round out, we want to encourage everyone to always keep an eye out for signs of human trafficking. Keep the hotline number handy and remember the hand signals; it may make a difference for someone who needs help. humantraffickinghotline.org

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer deaths after cigarette smoking. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that radon causes about 21,000 lung cancer deaths in the U.S. every year. Radon is a natural gas in outdoor air that can build up inside your home. Take action to reduce radon levels and talk to your doctor about any concerns. https://bit.ly/2S9itPT

❄️⚠️After the heavy snowfall we've received over the past 24-48 hours, please take a moment to check that all exterior vents and flues around your home are clear of snow and ice.
Blocked vents and exhaust pipes can trap carbon monoxide (CO) inside your home, allowing dangerous levels to build up. Carbon monoxide is invisible and odorless, and exposure to high levels can be fatal.
🚫Never use generators, grills, or gas stoves indoors or in garages.
❄️Clear snow from vents, chimneys, and exhaust pipes.
✔️Check smoke and CO detector batteries.
😣Headache, dizziness, and nausea can be signs or CO poisoning.

❄️Snow Shoveling Safety Reminders❄️
As we dig out from the snow, be sure to keep snow shoveling safety in mind. Take your time, pace yourself, and listen to your body!
❄️Be aware of the dangers of hypothermia. Dress appropriately!
⚠️Stop immediately and call 911 if you notice signs of a heart attack, including:
-Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
-Shortness of breath
-Pain spreading to the arm, neck, jaw, or back
-Nausea, vomiting, or cold sweats
-Lightheadedness or unusual fatigue
❄️Go slow, take frequent breaks and stay hydrated.

January is National Radon Action Month, with the last week of January chosen to observe Radon Awareness Week. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in soil and may enter homes and buildings.
You can't see, smell or taste radon, but it could be present at a dangerous level in your home. Everyone is at risk for radon exposure, but some populations are more at risk of adverse health effects from radon exposure.

For more information about Radon, visit: https://health.mo.gov/living/environment/radon/index.php
