Dry January offers a chance to pause and consider how alcohol use affects mental and emotional well-being. For some, a break from drinking improves sleep quality, focus, mood, and overall health. For others, it can bring up challenges that highlight the importance of support systems and coping strategies.

Approaching the month intentionally and with realistic expectations can help. This resource outlines evidence-based steps to support success and self-reflection: https://ow.ly/tRAS50XS1nr

Support remains essential in behavioral health. Whether someone is experimenting with a break or considering long-term change, guidance can help foster healthier outcomes. Share this post with someone participating.

Spending the holidays in Northern California can be especially stressful — balancing travel plans, holiday costs, shifting weather, and the emotional weight of the season. Studies show that much of this stress comes from disrupted daily routines, social pressure, and the expectation to put on a cheerful face even when you’re struggling. Simple habits like managing your calendar, getting outside for sunlight, and leaning on supportive friends and family can make a big difference. Share this to help others find a bit more calm during the holidays. https://ow.ly/Cl5F50XGXvz

In Northern California, the holidays can feel even more stressful as people juggle travel, expenses, weather changes, and the emotional intensity of the season. Research shows that holiday stress often stems from disrupted routines, social pressures, and the expectation to “stay cheerful” even when things feel heavy. Simple practices like managing your schedule, getting sunlight, and staying connected to supportive people can help. Our Story

Duffy’s was founded in 1967 by Gene Duffy, whose personal experience with addiction recovery motivated him to create a place where others could receive the help they needed. Over the years, Duffy’s has grown from its humble beginnings to treat more than 38,000 individuals. Today, our integrated program continues to help people who are struggling with alcohol and drug addictions along with various mental health concerns.

Many of the caring and compassionate professionals who lead our programs have also had personal experiences with recovery. Our staff is kindhearted, engaged, and dedicated to helping people recover, and they ensure that each guest who comes to us to heal truly feels that they belong. We treat each guest with the same dignity and respect we would our own families. When you or someone you care about recovers at Duffy’s, you join a family who truly care about your success.
