We would like to introduce to you, Ms. Rachel Overcast, RN, SDC (Staff Development Coordinator). She is a Registered Nurse and administrative nurse at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She has a background in both direct care and nursing leadership, she is dedicated to supporting patients, families, and staff with compassion and expertise. Rachel believes that the end of life is no less beautiful than the beginning, and she brings that perspective into her work by honoring dignity, comfort, and connection in every stage of care.

We are so thrilled to have her on own team. She has already shown how loving and compassionate she is with her residents and stakeholders. Welcome to the family, Rachel, we are so happy to have you!

🌟 Happy Sigiversary to Idah Kariko! 🌟

For 23 years, Idah has been an incredible part of the Signature HealthCARE family. Fifteen years ago, she moved from Florida to Louisville with Signature when our home office relocated—and she’s loved experiencing all four seasons in Kentucky ever since.

Idah is known for wearing many hats—always stepping up to help with projects, building connections with her co-workers, and sharing her positivity wherever she goes. She says working at Signature is truly a blessing, and we couldn’t agree more!

Outside of work, Idah shines as a small business owner with Idah’s Creations, where she makes handmade earrings that she sells at local festivals, churches, and school events. She also enjoys bowling, fishing, stargazing, movie nights, and—most of all—watching her son Elijah grow.

Meet Tessa Hobbs, RN-Unit Manager! She's one of the dedicated and compassionate leaders here at Oakview! With over 16 years of nursing experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge, a calm presence, and a heart full of care to our team every day.

Before joining long-term care five years ago, Tessa worked in Stepdown and CCU units, sharpening her clinical skills and learning how to thrive in fast-paced environments. Now, as Unit Manager, she’s a go-to person for everything from wound care to supporting staff and keeping open, honest communication flowing between residents and their families.

“I love what I do because it’s meaningful,” she says. “Being there for our residents and helping our staff grow makes it worth it.”

Outside of work, Tessa is all about family and home life. She enjoys quality time with her husband, son, and two stepdaughters. And let’s not forget Ziva, her loyal 10-year-old German Shepherd who’s always by her side. If you catch her with a quiet moment to herself, chances are she’s curled up with a good book.

We would like to introduce our amazing Assistant Director of Nursing!! She has been with Oakview for a few years!! She always goes above and beyond for her residents, staff, and coworkers. She is always ready to jump in and help with whatever needs to be done. She consistently goes out of her way to show appreciation to everyone she works with and cares for. We are so fortunate to have her as our ADON. She works tirelessly to make sure all of the things are done and done to perfection. We would be lost without her here at Oakview. She is great at what she does, and everyone loves her. Thank you, Heather, for all that you do. Here is a little bio to get to know her a bit better!

Heather Trujillo is a Registered Nurse and Assistant Director of Nursing at Oakview, where she has built her career from the ground up. She began as a floor nurse, quickly earning recognition for her clinical expertise and compassionate approach to patient care. Her leadership skills and dedication to fostering a supportive environment for both staff and residents led to her promotion as Unit Manager and, eventually, ADON. Heather views her coworkers and residents as a second family, and she is passionate about creating a positive, team-driven culture that ensures quality care. Outside of her professional role, Heather enjoys riding motorcycles with her husband, embracing the freedom and adventure that balance her rewarding nursing career.

We would like to introduce to you, Ms. Phyllis Long! She brings so much joy to all of our lives. Her smile is contagious, and we love her so much!! We are thankful for her and her many years of dedication to our elderly population. She is so much fun!! Here is a little bio from our fabulous Phyllis!

I have been a registered nurse for 39 years, and for the past two decades, I have devoted my career to long-term care. With over 25 years of leadership experience, I have had the privilege of guiding teams, mentoring new nurses, and helping to shape care practices that put people first. Nursing has never been just a profession for me—it is a calling. I have always loved listening to people and their stories, and I believe it is an honor to be able to care for them through every stage of life.

Anyone who truly knows me, knows that I am both a mother and a nurse at heart. I am very family-oriented, and my greatest joy comes from my four children and two grandsons, who are the lights of my life. The love I have for my family is deeply connected to the compassion and empathy I bring into my nursing career. I see every patient as someone’s loved one, deserving of dignity, respect, and kindness.

For me, being a nurse and a mother has shaped not only who I am, but how I serve others—with patience, understanding, and a genuine heart.

Huge SHOUTOUT to these wonderful night shift ladies. From left to right- Denise, Skyler, and Lynde! Denise and Lynde had birthdays on Aug 8 & 17th, along with several residents on their hall. They had their own celebration with their whole hall with cupcakes and ice cream! Of course it was a huge hit. These ladies are wonderful, and we are so thankful to have them on our clinical night shift team. They always do the "extra" for their residents. Thank you all for what you do! We wish you all the happiest of birthdays. Thank you for celebrating your day with our sweet residents on your hall!
