The neonatal intensive care unit or NICU specializes in the care of ill or premature newborn infants. The NICU can be a scary place for new parents. It's filled with unfamiliar equipment and medical terms but it's also a place of hope, healing, and dedicated professionals who are committed to providing the best possible care for your baby. This NICU Awareness Month, we're here to help you better understand your NICU experience! 👶
At St. John's Regional Medical Center, we are a Level III NICU, which means we're equipped to provide advanced treatment for seriously ill, low birth weight and premature babies, including micro-preemies. This designation is only given to hospitals that care care for the most complicated births. Our unit has expanded to 20 private rooms with the ability to accommodate twins together.
