Despite the negative effects of smoking, peer pressure is one of the reasons why college students smoke cigarette. The habit of smoking predisposes people to suffer pulmonary infection and inflammation as well as heart disease and lung cancer. Therefore, smoking cessation will help increase the quality and length of life of anyone who is living with HIV. Smoking cessation will improve HIV related symptoms like fatigue, pain and physical functioning. The harmful effects of the behavior can be magnified in the patients with HIV.
