Investing in your spiritual development šŸ‘‡šŸ»ā€¼ļø

Let me tell you a story. It was 2016, I was weighed down in credit card debt and my student loan payments hung over my head like a bad storm cloud.

I was desperate for a change. Willing to do things differently, and the ā€œwellnessā€ way was the only path forward that made any sense.

I tried to get healthy.
I bought a program.
I made some new friends.

I was ready for a full-on life transformation — primed for change and ready to develop new muscles in both a physical and emotional sense.

I looked around and everyone I knew was seeking a better life, but no one was talking about it with Jesus. 🄹

Yoga, shamans, crystals, protein shakes, exercise —

I didn’t even know Jesus could HELP ME GROW. 🌱

Because I was open and ready, I was also prepared to be deeply deceived by idolizing myself. This is the work of the enemy…

And the culture has made us believe that these paths bring healing, and I’m here to tell you, they only brought more hurt. 🫢😄

When we fix our eyes on Jesus (we learn how to do it and see when we are not looking to him), we follow him with the practical steps laid out within his ministry. It was called the Way for a reason, there is a path that he designed and challenges us to walk on. šŸ‘£

I’ve spent thousands of dollars in my last 10 years on teachers and readings, and tools meant to keep me from Christ and I never blinked! It was a worthy pursuit to follow myself… and yet, we don’t always have the same beliefs around our spiritual walk with Jesus..

We are still humans, with hurts, habits, and unforgiveness that impacts the way that we see the world… and I believe that Jesus wants us free in order to help build his kingdom for his purposes.. we are ambassadors of that work.

So investing in yourself spiritually is safe. I promise, in this space, our eyes will continually be locked on Jesus and we will walk through hard things together.

We weren’t meant to do this alone, or carry it by ourselves… he is the one that meets us, and shows us the Way.

We will dig deeper, and seek the freedom found within his heart. šŸ¤

Are we not so tired of trying to fit in with a narrative we were called to break free from???

Freedom in Christ is freedom in identity.
Brothers and sisters, you were never meant to look like the world! You were called to be ā€œset apartā€ and ā€œto come out from among themā€

But if we stay stuck in expectations and the fear of what others think of us, we will never truly be free.

Freedom in Christ is embracing who HE calls you to be, not making yourself smaller but allowing him to take up space in your heart and then to shine that light in the darkest places in the world.

If he calls you ā€œson or daughterā€ or better yet ā€œMINEā€ (Isaiah 43) that it should be enough for you.

I blamed my husband for all of the problems in our marriage.

It’s true. I lived in a constant state of blame, playing the victim. ā€œIf you could just ___ more, then I’d ___.ā€
This was the language in almost every conversation.

It wasn’t until our van adventure—when we were face-to-face with the reality of our marriage—that we became desperate for change. And it didn’t come without pain, difficulty, and accountability on both sides.

There is no hiding in 60 square feet. And that’s probably why many of you started following this page—to see our travel adventures… (obviously things have changed šŸ˜¬šŸ˜‰).
Anyways… we called it our 50% rule.
Every argument. Every battle. Every screaming match or silent treatment.
With the help of Jesus, we learned to take responsibility for our part.

Not only did it help, but we both began to feel seen, heard, and loved. So much came down to misunderstanding and old wounding. But when you open up to page three of the Bible—it’s the classic Adam and Eve in the garden.
We were the ones finger-pointing.

Adam blames God (the audacity 🫣):
ā€œthe woman that you gave me.ā€
Eve blames the serpent.
Neither take rightful accountability. They both choose disobedience.

It was disobedience and lack of accountability that led to the fall of man. But God—because of His good nature and love—already had a plan when He sent His Son, Jesus.
Jesus was not an afterthought. He was the fulfillment of reconciliation. šŸ«¶šŸ»

So why do we talk so much about Jesus?
Because before Him, we were our own worst enemy:
Blame. Hurt. Woundedness.
Lack of accountability.
When Jesus offered us something different, everything changed—our life, marriage, home, and peace.
We are a walking testimony of what life (and marriage) looks like with Christ at the center… and what it looked like without Him.

So what can you do?
• Stop blaming your partner and start taking accountability
• See the person in front of you as someone you’ve been given to do life with
• Let go of unforgiveness and resentment
• Tell your person you love them—and keep choosing unity
• Seek Jesus with everything you have
• Be sorry sincerely. If you aren’t sorry, don’t say it
