The symptoms of acid and reflux are fairly well-known and commonly advertised. There is a type of reflux that gets less attention and can be just as debilitating to the body overtime-- silent reflux, or laryngopharyngeal reflux as it's refered to in the medical field.

To learn more about silent reflux, you can refer back to my most recent email that covers how silent reflux affects the body, a deeper dive into the symtoms listed above, and a handful of simple tricks you can integrate to relieve some of the effects of silent reflux.

If you experience only occasional reflux, you may be able to pinpoint the cause to eating certain foods. Each individual who experiences reflux symptoms (burning and pain in the chest) can be irritated by different foods. One of my clients said that her reflux was trigger by bananas! Here are seven types of food/drink that tend to flare up the general population of those suffering from reflux after eating.

Watching the patterns between eating certain foods and experiencing pain or burning after can help clarify which foods are best avoided and create more enjoyable meal times. Beyond cleaning up the diet, there are so many other factors that can help resolve reflux symptoms, flare management, and prevent reflux from occurring! If you're interested in learning more about why these foods trigger reflux flares, other ways you can begin to manage your symptoms, or are just curious about what the heck is happening to your body when you experience acid reflux, check out my blog!

On May 4th at the American Legion Kitchen in Cambridge, NY I will be hosting a cooking class from 4-7pm that focuses on how to cook healthy, reflux friendly meals. It can be hard to make the transition to cooking for reflux or GERD, especially if some of the foods you love to enjoy are those that seem to be causing you the most pain. This cooking class is a chance to dive right into the kitchen with an open mind and a clean plate! If you're ready to say good-bye to GERD for good, click the link below to read more about the class and register to save your spot!

In Part 1 of my melatonin use to help with acid reflux and GERD post, I shared a brief background on how acid reflux affects the body and how melatonin can influence symtoms in a positive and protective manor.

Part 2 offers a little more background on why melatonin supplementation can be beneficial as we age and how melatonin has been used in practice and research in regards to both acid reflux and GERD.

For an even more indepth understanding of the information shared in both Part 1 and Part 2 of the melatonin-acid reflux posr or resources to the studies mentioned above, feel free to head to my website and check out my most recent blog titled "A digestion-focused nutritionist's love letter to melatonin".

Hello everyone! Happy spring ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿต๐ŸŒน

I'll be shifting focus from a focus on microbiome health to acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) for the next two months!

Nearly 20% of Americans have been diagnoses with GERD and so many more battle symptoms of acid reflux on a daily basis. These symptoms impact our quality of life from the moment we wake, to each time we eat, and especially when we go to sleep at night! We'll be diving into the physiology of acis reflux and GERD, signs, symptoms, and solutions.

If you don't already recieve my emails that share all the different blog topics I publish, here's a look at this month's blog! If this information surprised you (like I was when I first learned about melatonin!) or is something you'd like to learn more about, head to my website and sign up for my monthly blog posts! There's always so much to learn about when it comes to the body and how we can learn how to heal it.

Hey friends!!

A friendly reminder that in addition to my Restart program, the cooking classes I offer, and the many forms of community education that I do, I also work 1-on-1 with clients who experience digestive issues!

Each individual's path to healing is unique due personal experiences, genetics, the culture they're a part of, the habits that they have, they symptoms or issues being expressed and where they are on their health journey. Working 1-on-1 allows us to take a deep dive into all those facets of life and create an equally unique approach to healing the gut.

I work both in person and virtually with my clients. If you are interested in what my services are like or are wondering if working together would be a good idea, head over to my website where you can explore further details and book your free discovery call on the spot!

In my most recent newsletter, I shared that I've been playing around with some of these Indian spices in the kitchen. They sure have been keeping me and my family warm this winter โ„๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ›

India is known as the โ€œSpice Bowlโ€ of the world. With Indian cuisine and the unmistakable use of traditional spices becoming more common, I think benefits of these spices on our gut health deserve some recognition!!

We'll even be playing around with some of these flavors and benefits in my upcoming cooking class this month -- Eating for 1 Trillion on March 16th! Head to my website for all the event details, a slew of blog posts on gut health, and different opportunities to work with me!

Happy Monday Folks!

I wanted to share a new *Free offering now accessible from my website! I've been working hard this winter creating some content to help you navigate some of the most common digestive issues.

Ever experience symptoms like heartburn, bloating, constipation, or loose stools? I know I have! Digestive issues are most often linked to the overall health of our gut microbiome. When we spend a little extra care to nourish our gut microbiome properly, it is not uncommon for many of these symptoms to resolve over time.

My basic, yet informative guide will help you link your symptoms with potential solutions Head over to my website to get a free copy of this guide that you can reference whenever you may need!

Hey friends!

Second stop๐Ÿ“on the two month microbiome tour are prebiotics and how nourishing they are for our bodies ๐Ÿ’ช

Even though we don't digest prebiotic fiber ourselves, the long transit time that prebiotic matter takes to travel through our digestive tract allows the fermentation process to feed the good bacteria in our gut.

The symbiotic ๐Ÿชข relationship shared between us and these bacteria ๐Ÿฆ  are how many of the benefits we receive from prebiotic foods comes into play.

๐Ÿ“ฐ My monthly newsletter covers all this information in more detail, has the full recipe for Biome Bread ๐Ÿž, and always contains my latest offerings for cooking classes and current events happening around Cambridge. Sign-up via email through my website for all the free goodies and nutritional insights!

Thatโ€™s a wrap folks! My January RESTART Program is officially over and these folks did incredible! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฅณ. It was amazing to watch their progress and to see their bothersome symptoms (like knee pain, fatigue, or digestive symptoms) dwindle away over the 5 weeks!

It blows my mind every time to see how quickly the body responds when removing sugar and processed ingredients from the diet! Mark your calendars for 2026!
