Come To Yoga with Barbara Lyon Yoga for Seniors/ Beginners/ Gentle yoga classes on Zoom +at Pause Yoga studio, 91 Hampshire St, Cambridge, MA. Barbara has been a yoga teacher since 1995.

I have taught yoga since 1995 and loved every minute of it! I now specialize in Yoga for Seniors and Gentle Yoga, tho my Mon evening classes include more rigorous yoga like shoulder and headstands. 3rd chakra Yoga (the 'power chakra') Mon 6-7:15 pm & Tues 11:00-noon. Located in the solar plexus, it and governs our gut instinct, self-confidence, willpower, personal responsibility, and honest emotional expression. Deficient energy here can mean low self-esteem, sensitivity to criticism, poor digestion, or feelings of shame. Excessive energy can mean anger, jealousy, perfectionism, an inflated ego, or bullying. When in balance, this chakra can help connect us with our personal power, joy, abundance, generosity, and intuitive gut wisdom - and it s the source of deep belly laughter. In class we'll do lots of 'opening and closing' kinds of movements (think cat/cow, sun salute, etc), strengthening our core, and stabilizing muscles to help open and balance this chakra. In Yoga classes this week we'll focus on grounding yoga to awaken and balance our Root Chakra - the energy center located at the base of the spine, governing the feet, legs and lower spine. The 1st Chara is the foundation of our physical and emotional well-being, associated with survival, stability, and a sense of security. When out of balance, it may manifest as fear, anxiety, insecurity or being overly controlling; when in balance we feel more centered, resilient, safe, connected, and confident. A wonderful remedy for too much sitting/ slumping, they help preserve the mobility of our spinal muscles, keeping discs and joints happy, lengthen our back muscles, release tension in the abdominal muscles, aid our digestive system, and give us energy and yet relax us at the same time.
