Chronic illness has taught me a lot about pacing and patience. Something those of us with a lot of Pitta aren’t really good at. We tend to burn out—and don’t even get me started on the inflammation and circulation issues. Anyway, it took our 21st day in the desert to reach the top of the Museum Trail but we did it. My heart rate went over 120 a few times and I did my best to pause and let it come back down. It took almost an hour to reach the top with my Garmin breaks and then with my body’s permission I hustled down and made it to the bottom within 25 minutes. Here are a few shots from the top including a 360 from the top and a video of the descent. Grateful for all those (including the support from this community) who have made this possible. And to the yoga practice—shudder to think of my life without the decades spent on my mat. What. A. Journey.

Bumpy start to our vacation with Q’s 45-hour disappearance but with his return we were able to go to Malibu + LA as planned. It was hard to see the devastation from the fires but it felt good to support our favorite spots (and all but one remained in business) and chat with the baristas and waitstaff about their experiences. We were sad to learn at our favorite coffee shop that most of their customers never returned and they only know the whereabouts of a few—that unknowing must be excruciating yet she remains hopeful they are out there and OK. Finally made it to the courtyard of Gracias Madre in West Hollywood. We had takeout last visit and loved their sister restaurant (Cafe Gratitude) and somehow it was worth the wait. Sweet Potato Flautas? Delicious. Back on zoom this week on M + W @ 9 ET. Jenny still away. Light schedule as a result but hoping to see you at some point soon. ♥️🌵

M + A if you see this we finally made it to Joshua Tree! It only took us five visits to Palm Springs to make the trip to this incredible National Park. What a beautiful spot. My eyes and brain had a hard time computing what I was seeing. Simply gorgeous. We did two easy hikes and enjoyed every moment. Ahhh. Also, today is Q’s sixth birthday and we are so relieved he is home and safe. Thanks everyone for your texts and messages. ♥️ 🐈‍⬛ 🌴

Q is such an important part of our 5D family—and we are devastated that he has been missing since Sunday afternoon. As many of you know I am on vacation this week so posting so that you can send us some positive vibes as our friends and family search for him back home. We are hoping for good news but he is a homebody who always checks in for adoration and attention (and food). With any luck he will be back on zoom with us…💔

I was getting into savasana early Saturday morning when my husband said, “huh, there’s no hot water”….flash forward to seven (new!) space heaters running and two nights spent on the couch,
we are one day away from getting a new boiler installed. Grateful we have not lost power. And feeling extremely lucky we decided to be in Portland for the storm otherwise per the plumbers those frozen pipes we woke up to would have burst. Here are a few shots from our unexpectedly stressful weekend. Boiled water to wash my hair…inversion to deal with stress (this time during Patriots game!)….and lots of moments with Q (who is loving the snow, night patrols to check the faucets and glamping—less thrilled with the fans and plows). Excited to finally get to that savasana today. I hope you can join me at 9 a.m. ET for a grounding, warming and nourishing practice with some options to brighten and lift (just a bit). I hope you and your loved ones are warm and safe.

This is the time of year when I feel the best. As much as I love the summer, it takes a lot to stay cool and calm—I tend to operate from “frustrated” or “agitated”. In mid- to late- August I start to feel lighter. More spacious. Ayurveda helped me to understand this better but I always knew it—I just couldn’t always explain it. As we enter vata season this spaciousness may present as unease for you. Things might feel swirly or erratic. Life in this country in 2025 surely doesn’t help. Do your best to root. Nurture. Nourish. Stay warm. Routine helps. As does time in nature. Here are a few moments from my bike ride and walk earlier—even looking at nature can help. Take care of yourself. The world needs you.

November 4. Some shots from our morning garden stroll in Maine (+ one from yesterday’s). So many blooms seem to be lingering this year. It makes me wonder how much it has to do with warmer days—and has me thinking about the role sunshine, warmth, nourishment and water plays in their longevity and endurance. Big week. Don’t forget to hydrate. Bundle up. Find nourishment for your body, mind and soul. Let’s do our best not to whither. In class this week we will continue to focus on building heat, resilience and stamina. We will practice being present. And I hope to see you. Take care of yourself. ❤️

And that is a wrap. Season 10 you introduced some new Dock BINGO squares including “white geese”, “56 degrees”, “fellow Swiftie” and “rain shower” and we even met a few new faces. Thanks to all who came out. Here are a few shots from the last class—why don’t I ever think to capture the humans? Luckily I have them in my memory and heart. What a fun summer. I miss this gorgeous spot and lovely group already.

If you have practiced with me during the last two months you most likely heard a cat meowing during our hour together. Last week G captured the images. Our poor northern friend Q can’t fathom why I would talk for one hour and not come out and play with him. G goes downstairs every class to explain it to him (and I walk Q through it beforehand) but I am not sure he understands English/human terms (like yoga and zoom). Bonus shot of Q kissing or smelling me while I was in Downward Facing Dog on the porch on Sunday (thanks again for capturing 📸 ). What would we do without our four-legged friends?

Yesterday I reached the point of my integrated nutrition program where I can officially start coaching. I thought it was going to happen at the end of the week and was caught off guard—and I was surprisingly emotional. I almost didn’t share the photo (hence the delay) but realized there should be more photos in our feeds of unshowered humans with tears in their eyes (and chia seeds in their teeth). I am not taking clients yet but will continue to weave theories into private and public yoga classes. More to come on health coaching at 5D but for now, still soaking in the milestone—and lots more to learn (another test next week!). Thanks for all of your support on this journey.

I know a few of you were surprised to learn there was a 9 a.m. class today (+ thanks for reaching out to confirm…it takes a village) but I am at the point in my healing journey where sticking to my sleep, yoga + meal schedule is the best gift I can give myself. I am so grateful for this community. Thank you for your support in 2023 as I battled Long Covid + made a challenging decision about our space. I look forward to many more laughs, shared moments + stories in 2024. Here are some shots from my quiet holiday—a bit of coloring, a puzzle, some delicious Indian food + a brisk, post-practice walk. Wishing you a healthy + peaceful New Year. ❤️
