Tonight at St Mary's

Doug Koch (“Cook”), B.D., M.Mus, is Faculty Emeritus of Curry College in Milton, MA where he taught philosophy, religion, ethnomusicology and music performance. His professional and personal trajectories integrate music and spiritual educator, jazz performer and composer, liturgical artist and sacred sound practitioner, Himalayan bowl “singer” and energy healing facilitator. Doug developed a course at Curry on Sound & Healing, exploring the healing and transformational potentials of sound – surveying the physiology and psychology, the philosophy and spirituality as well as the history of healing with sound.

He continues to offer workshops, sonic accompaniment for the terminally ill, “bowl songs” for meditation and life transitions, and private sound therapy sessions - integrating various sonic healing modalities with yoga, Tong Ren, Reiki and other energy healing techniques. Doug regularly incorporates the bowls in the liturgical prayer life of his church community in Cambridge, MA

Humans are beings that act and react. We are constructed that way. As we move through life, we act, react, feel the emotions of it, try to learn from it, try to understand. The Masters say that we are a karma, a sequence and consequence, full of actions and reactions, full and absolute. But there is an elevated form of us. There is a higher form of us. There is a special self of us.

This elevated self is our ability to forgive.
If you can bring your actions and reactions through the heart center, the fourth center of consciousness, the result is forgiveness.

Forgiveness is the highest act of a human being. It is the highest act of self-realization.
The teachings say that humans can become greater than God when humans can forgive the unforgivable.

Then even God will bow to you, because you are moving beyond the law of karma, you are moving beyond the polarities, you are ending the cycles of coming and going.

Forgiveness is challenging. We must look at ourselves over and over in order to understand what has closed our hearts and what may open them so that we may be free. Forgiveness is healing to ourselves, to each other and to this world.

Mostly, we need to forgive ourselves. Someone may forgive us for transgressions we made against them, but will we forgive ourselves? We are the only ones that may do that for ourselves.

Self-forgiveness unblocks the energy and gets life moving again. We are released to begin again to make new and better choices.

Forgiveness stops the wheel of karma, neutralizes its effects and dissolves the root of the unwanted pattern that has persisted.

We will be working on our ability to forgive and let go and become who we might be without the pain, the guilt or the revenge.

Hope to see you for our weekly Tuesday evening at 7pm, tonight with Sat Kartar Kaur 💜🧘🏽‍♀️ Sat Nam.

As practitioners of Kundalini Yoga we are not renunciates - we walk the Ta***ic path, the path of a house-holder. And so we are working with our sexual energy (water), our root energy (earth) and our generative energy (fire). We 'siphon off' these energies for the purposes of creativity, balance and healing.

When we hear the word “root” you might picture a plant with a sturdy stalk that tethers it to the Earth below - like plants, humans also have a force that grounds us: the root chakra.

To balance the other chakras in the body, you must heal the root chakra first - so we feel confident and secure. (eg: there's no romance without finance).

Sexual energy, our urge to merge - our longing to belong has a less 'sticky' manifestation:

"Sexual energy, like all of the other energies, was meant to be a personal responsibility. It was to be a part of our Beingness of which you could be acutely aware. You were intended to experience your own rightness of feeling and action". (read below link)

And when we redirect our Fire (navel), which is usually tied up in getting stuff done or even reacting to circumstance, it cooks for us and integrates our disparate aspects - not unlike cooking a stew that has many different ingredients into one cohesive dish.

Mulbandha (Root Lock) is Key in this process.

The human body is an intricate composition of 84 minerals, 23 elements, and approximately 60% water, distributed across around 38 trillion cells. These fundamental components, sourced from the Earth, are assembled according to the complex genetic instructions encoded in our DNA. This DNA, coiled into a double helix, is so precise that even the smallest components, like s***m, carry this crucial genetic blueprint.
Our existence is a remarkable testament to the recycling of matter. The elements within us once formed butterflies, plants, rocks, streams, firewood, wolf skins, and shark teeth. These materials have been continuously broken down and reformed into the complex, sophisticated organisms we are today.
We do not simply inhabit the Earth; we are profoundly connected to it. Every part of us is a fragment of the natural world, a testament to the cyclical nature of life. Let us cherish and respect our intrinsic bond with Mother Earth, recognizing our role as an integral part of her.🌍💚

What is Freedom? How do as an individual get / feel truly free?
Why is Society as total build "against" the freedom of the Individual, and aren't we the ones who build this Society in the first place?
Krishnamurti's approach to question the Origin of Society-creation and point our focus inward into our psychological structures (where most of our manifested physical Creations originate from) instead of looking for flaws in the Outside structures of Society is worth a thought. Most of the things we create in Reality originate in our Inward psychological structures - If we want to change Reality, we first must go into the discomfort of our own psychological walls and question what is THERE first, as we might find reasons to start re-modeling.
